I don't remember how to do the switch either. I just know that neither of my kids could tolerate whole milk. they were both breast fed. I had to give them 2%

My twins really didn't like whole milk at first . The doctor said to add one oz. every 4-5 days. It really helped!

You can just give him a cup or bottle of whole milk. You don't need to mix it. My son didn't like whole milk - (he was bf'd) so I let him try different types - he loves regular soy milk so we give him that. There are lots of alternative sources of calcium - yogurt/cheese/dark green veggies - so don't worry if your son doesn't take or like the first thing you try - just keep offering him one thing at a time until you figure out what he prefers. Good luck!

We just switch our son to milk but we did not switch to whole milk. We ask our Doctor if our son had to have whole milk and he said no. Children do not need all that extra fat if they eating other dairy products.

Depends on your kid. We made the switch overnight when we went on a trip and forgot the formula! He didn't bat an eye. He was also used to drinking formula at room temperature or cold, so that wasn't a problem.

Otherwise, you can do it slowly and change the ratio by an ounce every 1-2 days. Whatever works!

With both of my kids, I made the switch in about 4 days - if they took 4 oz. I would add 1 oz. of whole milk to the 3 oz. of formula (or breastmilk). Did that for the first day, then the second day I went 1/2 and 1/2, the 3rd day I did 3/4 and 1/4 and the 4th day I gave just plain whole milk. I did the same thing I used to do with my breastmilk. Both my kids loved their drinks warm so I continued their same routine - but with the different combination of formula/breastmilk and milk. Both did AMAZINGLY well - and it was not stressful for us. If they didn't want to drink it, I would simply leave it on the table and move on - I didn't give them anything else to drink - so when they were thirsty, all they had was their sippy cup of milk. Hope this helps!
