Someone recently told me white hair is hereditary. Which makes sense since you've had it since childhood. I've had some grey hair since I was a kid too, as did one of my cousins. It's just one of these quirky things, nothing to worry about.

No point worrying. There's nothing you can do about it. I'm sure she will be beautiful just the same.

I have been getting white hairs ever since I was a baby.

I'm almost 30 now, and I still get the occasional strand... but most of my hair is still red.

I wouldn't worry about the occasional strand. If her hair starts changing a lot so that it's noticeable, I would take her in for a check up to make sure she doesn't have any deficiencies or medical reason causing it.

Are you saying you had grey hair as a child? Sometimes, a mole on your head will grow a patch of white hair in otherwise dark hair. I doubt it is anything to worry about. If you only saw "one", I think you might be over-reacting.
When your daughter gets older, there are plenty of hair color touch ups that can color it if it bothers her.

What's to be scared about?
Look on the bright side!
You can be totally sure she was never switched in the hospital with another infant!
You passed down your trait to your child - that's how genes work - and genetics can be a wonderful thing.

I'd be scared if my child had some life-threatening health issue but a few grey hairs? Considering the amount of moms I see bleaching strands of their pre-teens' hair, I think that if anything, your daughter will have the upper hand in looking cool, without spending tons of money on highlights. Is she aware of it, or even worried? I bet not, so don't let that fear trickle down to her. She probably does not care. Also, kids' hair changes as they age. I was blonde as a child and now my hair is mousy brown. It tends to get darker, so calm down. One hair is really not a big deal, but if she does start to worry, tell her Storm, a superhero from X-Men, has white hair. Give her positive role models with white hair to aspire to, instead of feeling as if her uniqueness is something to be ashamed of.

scared?
really?
did having white hair wrack your own psyche so badly?
instead of being 'scared', how about figuring out how to give your daughter pride in her uniqueness, and a few coping strategies on the off chance that she gets some teasing over it?
if i had come undone over something this minor, i'd never have survived parenthood.

Every single one of my mom's relatives were completely white headed by the time they were 20, 25 at the latest. I still have my original color hair. Hardly any gray.

I feel slighted!

I have Native friends who are totally white headed but you'd never know it because they use a black/blue black hair color every month. They do it on the same date each month such as the 10th is always color day.

This is something to consider I guess but I'd tell daughter it was a special blessing to get to have white hair and to be completely proud of it.

I have a spot on my scalp that doesn't have any pigment, so it grows white hair. It has been there ever since I was little. My son had a small birthmark on his head and NO hair as a baby- people were always expressing concern or trying to say that it would be covered up when his hair grew in, etc. I never cared. I used to joke that if he ever fell in a vat of babies, I would be able to pick mine out right away by the spot on his head! Sounds like it is just part of your genetics and something that will make her uniquely yours.
