We are planning a large family trip to the Florida panhandle. We have narrowed it down to Destin, Okaloosa Island or Panama City. Any thoughts on which one you thought was the most family friendly spot? I have been to Panama City before and loved it but wonder how it compares to the others. Thanks!

My family went to Destin in June and it was wonderful! The beach is beautiful, soft white sand and clear green water. Fun places for the kids are everywhere. We went to "The Track" and "Fudpuckers". The Track has several go-cart rides for different ages, carnival rides and the big crane drops. We loved the wooden track that goes up three stories high. Fudpuckers was fun for the kids. A playground, hoola hoops in front of the main stage and alligator habitat and museum right there! Also did waverunner dolphin tour and Seablaster (which was one of my favorites!) Can't recommend Destin enough and can't wait to go back next year! We stayed in a townhouse called SunGulf by the Bay. It was really nice. Two bedrooms - one for adults and one for kids with bunkbed (full size bottom and twin top) and another twin bed -and even an extra mattress under the full size bed. Also the livingroom had a couch that had a hide-away bed that was very comfortable. You don't have to bring anything - they have the house stocked with everything you need, dishes, appliances, towels, beach toys, boogie boards, fishing poles, chairs, etc. All you need to pack is your personal items and sunscreen! If you want information on these I can give you a link to look at or give you the number of the lady that we rented from. This townhouse has two balconies right on the lake and a walkway that takes you across the lake and you go around a pool and a little path and you are on the beach. Anyway, good luck and hope you have a great time.

Did a lot of looking around and we decided on Destin for our vacation..It is just over 11 hours away so we are driving...The Sandpiper looks pretty good.

We love the Destin are for family beach fun. The sand is like sugar, just beautiful. We prefer Sandestin. We stay at the Hilton Sandestin Resort and Spa. LOVE it and it is safe. We have a 13 yr old and she takes a friend. We can rest assured in the gated area that they are safe. They check in via cell every hour or we call the police! That is our rule. We are going back the first week of August.

Hubby and I LOVE Miami's South Beach. It is NOT family friendly. You must be opend minded. We go there about once a year without daughter.

Hi S.
Destin is great but has become very touristy. Have you thought about Pensacola? The beach is absolutely gorgeous, there is clean white sand and the water is warm. Are you renting a condo or staying at a hotel?
Wherever you choose to go, have a great time!

I don't know how old your kids are, but I went to Destin in High School and loved it. From what I remember, the beaches are really nice and the water is really clear there.

Have fun!!
