Does anyone have any good recommendations of places in the Commerce/Novi/Farmington Hills/West Bloomfield area for swimming lessons for my 3 year old son? We used to go to Lakeland High School's pool which was great, but it really is further than we want to drive. Hope someone can help! Thanks!

What can I do next?

I would recommend Carls Family Y in Milford. My daughter taught swimming there a few years back and raved about how well the program was run. They also have a summer program where you go to a neighborhood pool. The only problem with that is lack of bathrooms and weather.

I took my kid to Schoolcraft College. It was good, but it's been a few years ago so I don't even remember how I signed up, but it was a good program. You could probably go online and check it out or call their admin offices.

Hi D. - I know absolutely where you need to go - Goldfish Swimming School in Birmingham. It's a 25 minute journey from my house - but absolutely worth it. My kindergartener has been going for nearly two years and absolutely loves it. It's such a happy place and the moms get to chat outside the window. I think there's another Goldfish that has opened in Farmington - not sure if that's closer to you - have fun - Alison

We had great lessons at the Jewish Community Center, on 15 and Drake in West Bloomfield. Another good place is the Sports Center on 15 and Farmington.

Try the Costick Center in FH. Classes are in the FH rec brochure. It is the cheapest around and the classes are good. Not the newest and most exciting pool, but you can't beat the price!
