Thank you for all the wonderful ideas...We decided to go to Washington, D.C. Lots of history, landmarks, shopping (of course) and very educational for the kids. I hope we have fun.

M.,

I agree with Kacey. I was thinking San Antonio as well. There is Sea World, Six Flags / Fiesta Texas, the River Walk, the Alamo, the Zoo, etc. San Antonio is pretty and not too hot that time of year, too. Schlitterbaun is only about 30-45 minutes north of there, too.

If you choose to do a cruise, Disney Cruise line is the way to go. It is too cold to go to Alaska that time of year and regular tropical cruises don't have much to do if you don't drink alcohol or gamble. Disney has tons of stuff for the kids, but they kept it much more elegant than the parks are so grown ups enjoy it, too.

Happy traveling,
S.

Not sure where your from. But, San Antonio was a great vacation, you have the river walk, Six flags, Sea World etc. If you wanted to go to a beach you can drive south to Corpus Christie. Also if you want to shop for cheap stuff you can cruise a few hours south to Nuevo Laredo walk across the bridge into Mexico and shop. Walk don't drive your insurance can't afford the wreckless drivers over there.
Then if you want a multitude of entertainment from theatres to theme parks go to branson, Mo it is nice there for kids and adults alike. www.branson.com Just a few that I've been on.

How about Sea World. It sounds like like they are at a good age to enjoy something like this. I hope you have a great day!

What about to Avery Island where they make Tabsico? It won't be to hot then, and it's close. It shows what good we do here in LA, pluse they history surrounding Baton Rouge itself, with the slve cabins, and then there's a free zoo, and a weird museum that is realitvely inexpensive. I enjoyed my trip there but my kids were smaller.

Have ya'll gone camping it's fun if the kids are old enough, we go to Garner State Park. If money is okay a cruise for three days would be awesome and there is a lot for children to do. ( If u like the cruise let me know I have gone twice and know little secert to save money) The Grand Canyon is fun too. There are so many things to see. I want to try to take my children to each state before they are adults. Ask your children what they would like to do. Have some ideas before hand and have the info to get them excited. Hope this helps and have a wonderful spring break,
Leti

Does it have to be out of state? If not why not take the kiddos to New Braunsfels and go to Shlitterbahn and then go tubing down the river. Or you could go to San Antonio and relive some of the greatness it has there, it really never gets old.

My family went to Old Tucson in Arizona when my son was little, which was 20 years ago, so you'd have to check to see if it's still open. It was a blast to see how the old west was set up, and there were actors who did a skit in the street, plus an old-time replica of a restaurant. The view in Arizona is beautiful if you like mountains and desert.

Instead of taking a big trip, how about several mini trips? Have you been to the Blue Bell Creamery in Brenham? It's awesome. How about the George Bush Library on the A & M campus? Or the Lyndon Johnson Library in Austin? San Antonio is fun, there are the missions to explore, as well as Fiesta Texas and SeaWorld. Galveston is good for a few days, one for the beach and one for sightseeing. There is also Schlitterbahn in Galveston now. Hope you have a great time whatever you decide to do! Just focus on good quality time together and making wonderful memories.

Cruises are lots of fun. They have activities for the kids that last all day and have special shows just for the kids also. We went on one a few years ago, but our child wasn't old enough to participate. Its a great way for both kids and parents to relax. Theres lots of fun things for adults to do as well.

I guess it really depends on what you are wanting to spend on your trip. My parents used to take us to Florida and Colorado for spring break and/or summer trips. A couple of years we decided to do something different and went on a couple of cruises. They are really nice and a great way for children to have fun along with letting the parents relax. During the day, there is a children's camp that you can allow your children to go to that is supervised by 'camp counselors'. They do things around the boat. For example, they have talent shows that the kids can participate. While they are doing this, mom and dad can relax by the pool, enjoy lunch together, take a nap, play in the casino...TONS OF THINGS!!! The days that you port you can get off the boat and pick from tons of land excursions. Personally, cruising is the best way to vacation. All your meals are taken care of, so no going out to eat or making sandwiches in your room or cleaning up anything. There is food all of the time. Even if you are in your room, you can call for room service and its free. There are only a few things that are not included...alcohol, soft drinks, land excursions. But, everything else is taken care of for you. The only other thing that I can suggest to cut down on cost is to book a cruise that is leaving a port that is close to you. Being in central Arkansas, we always book out of New Orleans. That way, we don't have to pay for expensive plane tickets. We just hop in the car the day before our ship is set to leave and drive down, stay the night in a hotel, and get up the next morning to explore the rivermarket before we board.

Anyway...good luck!!
Hope you all have a great time!!

Washington DC is an awesome choice. We were there in early November and it was great. Be sure to take a night time bus tour. Lots of walking even with the Metro rail.
