I bought my daugther a new Graco Infant car seat w/base and frame stroller in August and I am looking for somewhere to sell it. I tried craigs list, no takers.....any other ideas? All pieces are in great condition and I would like to get some money for it, we paid $169.00 for all three.

You might try ebay. It's really hard to sell car seats as most places won't take them. There's a store called Once Upon A Child that takes gently used children's items from toys to clothing and shoes, etc. I had a car seat that my son had outgrown and it was still in great shape but they wouldn't take it. You might want to go online, type in their name, look for a location near you and their phone number and ask them before you go down there with it. Now they will take strollers, depending on how old they are.... or.... garage sale.

Good luck to you!

Once Upon a Child is a great second hand store. The up side is that it will be sold. The down side is that you might not get as much for it as you would if you sold it yourself.

We sold a infant carseat and seat carrier on Craig's List, but I sold it cheap ($30 for seat, stroller, and two bases). Unfortunately, people are warned not to purchase used carseats. You may have to price it low to get rid of it. Another option is to be a seller at a local Children's sales (like at a church). They take a cut (25%?) and charge a fee to sell, typically, so it may not be worth the hassle.

Hi C. - did you include a picture with your Craigs List posting? They tend to sell better. I was disappointed with Once Upon A Child. I gave them about 5 large bags of maternity & baby clothing that was brand new with tags, only worn once and also expensive Land of Nod bedding, etc., and only got $50 for EVERYTHING. I would have done better at a yard sale or on Craigslist.

Unfortunately there's not much of a market for used carseats no matter what shape they're in. The safety and liability issues with them are too important. Even the Salvation Army won't take them. I would probably just lower your price and go back to craigslist if I were you. You can also try and find a friend (who trusts you) who is expecting and sell/give it to them, or go for the consignment and/or yardsale options, as suggested by other posters. You might do better to find a charity to donate it to (I'm not sure any will take carseats) and take the tax write-off, though.

Online or a garage sale are the only places you might have luck. By law used car seats cannot be sold by any store type places, ie Once Upon A Child. I'm not sure charity's will take it either based on that law. Good luck!

St. Isadores Church in Bloomingdale has a consignment sale 2 times a year. You can drop things off to sell and they keep a percentage of the sale. It the item doesn't sell you have the option of picking it up or they will donate it after the sale. You could try the fall sale. Just google the church and they should have info on their website.

If the price is right, it should sell on craigslist. It is the only free service I know of. Ebay will have you with shipping costs and a service fee.
