Where to Go Pumpkin Picking?

I live in Lake Orion and would like to take my daughter and her friend pumpkin picking during the week. Where is the best place to go around here? If they served lunch/cider and had other activities that would be an added bonus!

What can I do next?

If you want something closer to home - Oak Haven Farms is really nice. A little simpler than some of the other places. They have hay rides that take you out to the pumpkin patch and tons of pumpkins in a field when you first get there that the kids can walk through (great photo op). They also have a petting farm, pony rides and a hay jump. Not sure if some activities are only good during the week though...they do have cider, donuts, hot dogs, etc. It is on Dixie Highway at the corner of Grange Hall Road. (North of Clarkston) Here is the web site - http://www.oakhavenfarm.net/

Westview Orchards IS THE BEST!! We have tried 5 orchards and this is our favorite, we return year after year. They have MANY activities for the kids including a play area with many playscapes built out of wood that are in the shapes of tractor, train, ship, etc. They also have u-pick fruit from June to October. Corner of 32 Mile and Old Van Dyke in Romeo. If you Google Westview Romeo Michigan, their website will pop right up.

The best way to find out is to look up cider mills on-line in lower Michigan. You can also check out your chamber of commerce for Lake Orion and it should have some information also (also on-line).

My parents use to take us to every cider mill in lower Michigan and my husband and I did the same for our children and still do. We use to go to Paint Creek cider Mill and Yates and I think maybe one at Stoney Creek? They are in the Rochester area, but go on-line and check to see if they are even still open. Have you ever tried Up-land Hills Farms which is close to you.

Hope this helps you and good luck. If you wanted to hike down 75 to Dixie Hwy on Grange Hall Road is a wonderful farm that has cider and donuts and a pumpkin patch and a petting zoo. My daughter went on a field trip there about three years ago and it was excellent. I am so sorry but I cannot remember the name Gingerville maybe? Also check on-line.

happy pumpkin picking,

M. Marshall

Big Red Apple Orchard has a pumpkin patch. We have a great time there every year. They are on 32mile. If you take Rochester Road to 32 turn right it will be down a few miles on the right.

Upland Hills Farms is in Oxford, and very close to where you live. I would call and see what their hours are during the week. They also have farm animals for the kids to see.

During the week, I'd call ahead. I know for apples, you could not pick at Westview unless you were with a school group during the week. Miller's Big Red was fine.

Have fun!
