Where to Find Wide Shoes

I have always had big feet - size 10. As I have aged my feet have gotten wider and I am now a 10 wide. Is it possible to find good-looking shoes in that size? I don't yet have the nerve to go to Nordstrom and ask for shoes in a 10 wide - for some reason I am very embarrassed about it. I went online but all the shoes at the big feet shoe places seem frumpy or aren't brand name shoes. I love shoes and am depressed that my days of cute shoes is over. Any recommendations?

What can I do next?

My mother has the same problem and recently had to go to a formal event. She ended up doing an internet search for clothing and shoe stores that cater to transvestites. She found one in SF (naturally) and once she got over the embarrassment of shopping there she found a really beautiful pair of champagne pink satin heels. You can also try shopping online at zappos or piperlime. Both do free shipping on returns if they don’t work out.

I also have big feet...13 in women's...it could be worse!! I can't find shoes in my size in most stores and have a limited selection online as well, but I buy shoes at Shoebuy.com. I have a medium width foot, but frequently the shoes in my size are also available in wide widths there. I don't have the option of cute shoes ever as I have so few choices (nothing at all cute about a 13), but I am able to find comfortable shoes that I like in name brands.

I also wear a 10 and have a "wider" foot. Go to Nordstrom's rack, or even Nordstrom's on line if you don't want to go in the store. Bakers also carries 10's some in wide, Aldo's...JCPenny (amazingly cute stuff these days).

don't be embarrassed of your feet, I used to work with a woman who wore a 12!! She could ONLY wear mens shoes. Your shoe size is just that....plus, do you really hang out with the sales people at Nordies???? They don't remember you 15 seconds after you leave.....go for it. Get your cute shoes.
I am a shoe-aholic myself....good cute shoes are WORTH it!!!

You can also try Zappos.com, they have a lot of shoes OH OH OH AND DSW!!! That way you go and pick you OWN shoe!! :)

Try 6pm.com. They are a clearance house for Zappos. If you find a brand that fits you (got to Macy's and Nordstroms and try on shoes!!) go online and see what prices they offer. They have great prices and often have the large sizes as they are all that is left over. My mother wears and 11 and she's 5'3".

I also have a 10 wide. I shop sometimes at footsmart.com, and stores that cater to plus-size women like lanebryant.com. I'm looking forward to trying some of these other suggestions!

Another wide width foot person here. I have found Miz Mooz shoes to be made wider than most. They are fun and stylish.

Good luck.
