Hello Everyone,
I have been nursing my son and have alot of breast milk stored in my freezer as well as my friends deep freezer. I dont think ill really need all that, since im still making alot. I wanted to know a place or agency where i can donate it. Would prefer they come and pick it, but if they cant then ill drive and donate. Dont want all this going down the drain.
Thanks for all the reponses in advance.

What can I do next?

You can contact the Mother's Milk Bank of North Texas. Their website is www.mmbnt.org and all the contact information is there. They are located in Fort Worth but have drop off locations all over the metroplex. They can go over the donor process with you and answer any questions. Kudos to you for thinking of other babies that can benefit from you precious gift!

Mother's Milk Bank of North Texas. You can google it and they have different drop centers. You have to fill out a questionaire and have your blood drawn. They pay for all of it and even send you containers and labels for future donations. I donated through them and they were very grateful.

The link above is to the North Texas milk bank right here in Fort Worth. All you need to do is go to the website and there are email or phone contacts for you. There are drop off centers in Fort Worth, Bedford, and Grapevine (just to name a few). I work at a very busy Neonatal ICU and we use alot of donor breast milk for our tiny babies. We really appreciate your donation in advance. You'll be helping many sick and premature babies!!
Thank you,
W.

Chantel Hayes hasn't been feeling well this week and thought it might be related to her gallbladder issues a few years back. Well this morning she was REALLY sick. She went in and has acute pancreatitis. They are on their way to the hospital right now. She has to be admitted for 5-7 days for IV fluids and liquid nutrition. They are hoping that the inflammation in her pancreas goes down enough that they don't have to operate. She will most likely lose her milk, so if anyone has frozen milk lying around they don't need she would be most grateful. She is currently nursing 7 month old twins. Even if we can get them through
the immediate crisis, we are hoping she can get her milk back. If you are willing to help with childcare or meals, that would be awesome too. They live in Frisco and she will be at Presby Allen.

Thanks everyone!

Please email me if you are willing to help in any of these areas. Lastly, prayers and good thoughts are always welcome!

It is awesome that you want to donate it but consider saving some for yourself just in case.
My girlfriend stopped pumping when her TWINS were 1 year and she had enough milk to last her TWINS til they were 14 or 15 months.
She was so glad too because they had a tough transition to regular milk. (allergies, taste, etc)
I heard it is really expensive for families to buy the milk and actually my same friend gave her milk to a family she knew (with twins too) and that mom bought her diapers in return. She made a TON of milk!

hi there!
i actually have 2 suggestions ...totally differant from eachother ! :) I was in that same predicament when my son was the same age! I had SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much extra so i considered donating it. I was talked into saving it as you have done "just in case" although b/c i was making so much i thought it silly. I'm SO glad i saved it all b/c i dried up and was able to continue to feed my son for an extra 3 -4 monthes! You may just want to hold on to it b/c it stays good in a deep freezer for 6 monthes and i think 3 in a reg freezer! BUT if you dont.....there is a La Leche League that would be happy to take it !!!
good luck in making your decision!

I donated through Mother's Milk Bank of North Texas http://www.mmbnt.org/ and they're great. It was really wonderful to be able to help sick and premature babies.

If they're not able to accept your milk, you can donate privately through Milkshare http://milkshare.birthingforlife.com/ It's not a milk bank, but a way to donate privately to families who need human milk. It's wonderful to be able to see the babies who need your milk, too.

Good for you for thinking of others!

Hi H.,
I donated with my daughter to the Mother's Milk Bank of North Texas (http://mmbnt.org/milkDonor.html). They are located in FW and have multiple drop off places throughout DFW, and if you are a bit further away will have your milk shipped to them. Keep in mind that you will need to complete the blood testing and health questionnaires before they will accept your milk and there is a minimum donation of 100 ounces.
HTH,
M.
