Where to Buy a Nursing Bra?

Hi, I'm trying to find a store in the East Bay, Walnut Creek or SF that will measure you for a nursing bra, and has a good selection to try on. Babies R Us don't have a good selection and most are underwired, if anyone has any suggestions I would be grateful. Also if you have a brand you would recommend that would be good too?

What can I do next?

I would call Lily Ann's in Pleasanton to see if they have some. They have all types of bras and they are very nice and are great at fitting you without making you feel uncomfortable.

Hi,
My friend owns In Full Swing on College Ave in Oakland and they have a great selection of nursing bras. When Cotton and Co. (baby store) closed, they transferred their stock of nursing bras to In Full Swing. The staff there is very friendly and helpful as well. Happy Shopping!

The Women's Health Center in WC, which someone already mentioned, is open to everybody, regardless of your insurance. They also have pregnancy and parenting classes and maternity massage. Also, there used to be the Nurture Center in Lafayette but I don't know if it's still open. Otherwise any maternity clothing store will also carry bras.

I always found that Motherhood had a large selection and the best prices. Try them on first though - their return policy is terrible.

Mom's the Word Maternity has really nice nursing bras. (I got great ones that look like normal molded bras) I also got great nursing pjs and cammies there. They can help fit you too. That was the tricky part for me! They are in SF and WC.

in the sf area, i went to the day one center. www.dayonecenter.com they have lactation specialists and so they helped me with a bra. they were a lifesaver! check them out. i really love the place. by the way, it can be a little expensive but they are always having sale stuff so it's totally worth it! i am highly against motherhood maternity because they don't know really what they are doing. sorry if others suggested it but i didn't have a good experience with the bra fitting with them.

Congrats! I have 4 1/2 month old twin boys.
I have found some at multiple stores.
Ross and Target had some good ones and were really cheap.
You just have to search for them.

Congrats on your pregnancy!

I would recommend Fashion After Passion on Lincoln in Alameda. They are a maternity/kids consignment shop, with new nursing bras. The owner is VERY helpful in assisting customers with finding the right size bra. They have many styles to choose from, most are cheaper than other stores, too. I bought the Bravado bra and personally find that brand the most comfortable.

Good luck!

I really like Japanese Weekend in Union Square in San Francisco. The nursing bra is super comfortable (no underwire nice knit fabric), and stylish. I wear it both to sleep as well as out during the day.

Day One just opened on N Main St in Walnut Creek ... an excellent place for all new moms and moms-to-be. (http://www.dayonecenter.com/)

Mom's the Word is a boutique in WC (http://www.momsthewordmaternity.com/) I think they may do that. You can call both places first.

P.S. Congrats on the twins! My two girls just turned one in January. The first year is challenging but fantastic ... and it flies by!

If you belong to John Muir, you could stop by the Women's Health Center in WC. They mostly carry Bravado nursing bras (which are GREAT!) They'll also measure you to make sure you have the right fit.
Good luck!

In San Francisco, there's Natural Resources on Valencia between 24th & 25th, which is where I've gotten all my nursing bras. I am an unusually large size that can't be found many places and their selection as well as service was great. Also, Day One on California Street in SF (they also have a location in Walnut Creek)has a great selection as well. Both places have websites in case you need info before you go. Links: http://www.naturalresources-sf.com/ and http://www.dayonecenter.com/ I highly recommend medela nursing bras. Comfortable & high quality. Also, Natural Res has a selection of Italian bras (can't remember the name) that were both pretty and supportive, which is a rare combination. Good luck!

If Motherhood Maternity is still around, they used to have a decent selection. There was one on Market Street near Union Square in SF. I bought many of my nursing bras at the newborn store at CPMC on California St. in SF (Newborn Connections?). You might want to wait, though, because your breasts will continue to grow between now and when you breastfeed, especially once your milk comes in.

Try Fashion After Passion in ALameda. She has a huge selection and range of sizes and will spend as much time as necessary to make sure you get a great fit and will support your needs. Another great great place is Waddle and Swaddle.

Motherhood Maternity stores have nursing bras and there is usually someone there who can fit you. The store at Stoneridge Mall helped me when I was pregnant with my first child. You can also go to "Bras for Body and Soul" in Fremont. They specialize in bras for women who are hard to fit, have had breast surgery (augmentation, breast cancer, etc..), and maternity/nursing bras. They have fitting specialists who can measure you, give advice on types of bras and breast health, PLUS they will alter bras if needed. They have non-underwire bras, too. They are a little pricy, but for everything they offer, it kind of balances out. They are located on Mowry Ave in Washington West (big, new building next to Washington Hospital) on the first floor. I hope this helps!! Good luck!
