Where Should the Baby Be at Almost 17 Weeks Pregnant?

I will be 17 weeks pregnant on Monday. I expected the baby to be up by my belly button by now, but the only movements I feel (And yes, they are baby movements) are down by my pubic hair line. That just seems really low to me. But maybe it's normal? I can't remember where Oliver was at the point.

My next appointment with my doctor is September 3, and I'll be asking her about it then. I just wanted to get your opinions now while I wait.

What can I do next?

Let's see...at 17 weeks...I felt him in my pelvis, ribs, stomach, side, etc. He was everywhere. Every baby, every pregnancy is different. I felt my son at 14-15 weeks, and he was insane. There were times I felt like his foot was going to come out of my nether regions!! I think you are just fine, and so is baby!!

If you can find the book Pregnancy and Childbirth it will have pictures of where the baby should be at each stage of development by week. It was a lifesaver for me as I was out of the country and my mom was not alive to answer questions.

Have a great delivery.

I barely felt my daughter at 17 weeks and it felt like she was all over the place. With my twins I had one down near my pelvic bone since the beginning and one up under my ribs from the beginning, and all though early on they were able to move about freely, they never did. I can trace back my sonograms (which were every 2 weeks) starting at 8 weeks and they are always in the same place.

At 17 weeks - your baby is about 4 ounces and all of 5 inches long. You might be feeling fluttering, etc. but EVERY pregnancy is different. You might be carrying lower. You might be feeling the amniotic fluid from motion and not the actual baby moving.

With second and third pregnancies, some women can feel movement sooner than they did with the first one.

I would NOT stress over this. Make a list of things you want to talk with the OB about and take it with you. Otherwise? Don't stress!

I'm 16weeks now with baby #4. I feel lots of little movements down low. Who knows where your placenta is- maybe a little higher up and blocking your feeling the movement up there?
