My son will be 7 by Christmas and he is asking for a "Town for his hotwheels" He LOVES his hotwheels and plays with them pretty much all the time and he has now decided that he wants his cars to have a town to play in......and plans on asking Santa. AND I need help I have NO idea what or where to even begin to look for something like this. I don't want it to be babyish and I want it to include like a gas station, a home, a garage stuff like that o and for boys. Does anyone know where something like this can be purchased?

What can I do next?

I think you are looking for Hot Wheels Mega City. You can buy them in sets and they snap together. My son loves these!

Amazon has a lot of options:

Both Matchbox and Hot Wheels make "city" sets that have roads you can snap together and connect with buildings. I wouldn't go too crazy with this though. He's at the upper age for playing with cars and likely will only get maybe a year out of these before moving on to other things, so I wouldn't spend a ton of money buying a lot of sets.

You could also consider looking for one of those rugs, that have trees and roads and all kinds of other things printed on them. You could then get him all the figures he needs to complete his town.

Hobby shops have a lot of realistic figurines... because many train enthusiasts like to build towns where the trains pass through... I have seen some setups that look exactly like real towns and cities.. if you don't have a hobby shop near you, just look online. all that stuff can be ordered

good luck

You need to go to places like Toys R Us, ebay, amazon, toy stores, and even Walmart. Check out the individual parts you can buy. We've had all sorts of places like a Hot Wheels mountain, garage, and long tracks.

I'd say you can be prepared to pay about $30-$50 for each business/item you buy. It's a thing you can plan for each month once you find your source. Then you can buy one each month or every other month.

Here's one that I found just by googling Hot Wheels Accessories

Our son also loved his hotwheels and had to have a town for them.
For him the most important things to have were a fire station and police station (he had lot's of police cars, fire trucks and rescue vehicles).
Initially he built towns with blocks.
Then he was into Legos big time (I've always liked Legos myself).
I had to help him with the kits at first but he was soon building on his own - from instructions and then free form.
Soon he didn't want me to help build anymore but he always likes it when I help by sorting the pieces so they are easier for him to find.
His interest in his cars waned eventually in a few years, but the Legos he still loves - he's built planes, jets, ships, cars, so many helicopters, buildings, space ships, submarines, etc.

FAO Schwarz always has interesting types of action figures and structures that go with them.

Or try an architecture model building website.

I do not think they make them any more really, you might want to look on E-bay. Most of what they sell for the cars these days are the tracks.

My boys are 8 and 10. They wanted all the hot wheels tracks and we got them for them. Just last week I threw away about 6 sets they no longer play with. The only sets they still use (my youngest on occasion) is the more thick/solid sets (grey with buildings, two lane connection roads) and the rug he has that has streets on it. The regular tracks (orange ones) are a waste of money in my opinion based off how often they got played with. They take up a lot of space to set up, so the boys played with them none stop for about a week, but as soon as they had to break it down it never went back up.

My grandson is into his hot wheels too. So, I will also check out these web sites. Do you let your son watch DVD s ? If so, there are hot wheels movies. The first one he loved. Then I found a 4 dvd set on Amazon.I bought it for him for his 7th birthday. I thought about this because in one there is a Hot Wheels City. Sometimes when the weather is bad, we have a "hot wheels day" We put on the movies, build ramps & play hot wheels. I just remembered... I also bought him a hot wheels CD. I love Amazon !!

I would look at craigslist in your area. I have bought a few of the things and the ones I have gotten from the consignment store are such a savings. Most parents want to make space and get rid of the hot wheels tracks. I like to meet somewhere like starbucks/7-11 when buying from a stranger. Several times I ended up finding out the person selling a toy is a friend already.

In my opinion ebay is over priced. The people get really greedy and the shipping cost can be expensive for oversized items.

I just looked up your area and found a few things on craigslist (not sure if this is close since I do not know the Texas area):

Does he like legos? They have a whole bunch of that kind of stuff. He could get one of those rug things with the roads and put together the police station, gas station church, stores, houses etc

A large piece of painters canvas, pre-primed. Draw roads, gas station, stores, fire dept., police dept., a farm on the outskirts with a barn, post office and any other town buildings. Trace over with a permanent marker. Now your son can color his own town and have it to use for his cars, firetrucks, small animals figures, etc.
We had one when I was younger that was done on a sheet with colored pencils. My brother didn't use it much as he was getting to old, but my younger sister and I used it a ton!
I always wished that I could have colored it the way I wanted because the barn was brown, but then again, I am an art teacher now...
