Where do I find kids friendly parks in Albuquerque, NM?

Does anyone know of a good park? I live in the NE area, but not afraid of driving. Maybe one that has some grass and trees, not a concrete jungle? My son is 7 mo old, and I would love to be able to take him to a park, maybe play in the grass, have some shade if it gets hot!

What can I do next?

hi, sara!

how are you doing? we just love our new park that was built in our area...it is called vista del norte (however, because it is a new park, the trees are a little small and we usually take our shade cabana). we also love the park called loma del norte located on loma del norte which is off of wyoming and san franscico--great shade as well as a great children's play area. another that we go to a LOT is summit park located on constitution between girard and carlisle--wonderful shade as well as a good play area and lots of kids...a great place to meet other parents.

i hope this helped!

HI! I am new to town too! I take my daughter to High Desert Park. Its on Academy and I am not good with directions and streets around here and thats all I know. We normally just walk there cause we live close. There is a smaller playarea for little ones and than a bigger one for the older ones. In the small one there is a little place babies can go through. There is alot of open grass. Not too many trees but we go either in the morning or at 6 and it feels great.

I'm not sure if you're familiar with Rio Rancho but Haynes Park near Don Chalmers Ford is the best! They have a great playground, grass, trees. My 2 year old loves it there!

I know of 2 nice parks that I have been taking my kids to. Im not sure of the names but I know where they are at. The first park is on Menaul east of Tramway maybe 2 blocks, there is a little section there for younger kids and they also have baby swings,(which I have found some parks don't have swings so thats a plus for me),and trees. Another park is on Lomas east of tramway maybe 4 blocks. It has swings, trees, and a little picnic area. Oh i guess I know another nice park it's on Pennsylvania in between Menaul and Indian School. It has alot of trees. Hope I could be of some help.

Hmm..We live in old town area and go to the park near the museum (Tiquex park) but we have recently been heading out to other parks. There is a good one right off Copper and Tramway. Just East of Tramway turn left off of copper (I believe it's the first street off copper. I don't know the name) The park is on the left hand side of the road. I don't know how much shade there is but there is a great toddler structure for when your boy gets more mobile. The best toddler structure I've seen in town.
Another park with good shade is located on Constitution between Girad and Carlisle (Down near UNM). I believe it's called the Sunshine park. You can look on the city's website for more park locations (www.cabq.gov). Hope this helps and enjoy your baby.

I like the Los Ranchos park. 6718 Rio Grande Boulevard NW 87107
It is 50% shaded by trees. There is a huge grass field next to the park. The park has sand to play in. We are there most Wednesdays from noon to 1 PM, in case you want to say hi. I have a 3 year old named Carlee.

there is a good one on indian school and pennsylvania, but indian school can get pretty busy with traffic and school letting out. I personally like the one on pennsylvania and constitution. but they both have grass and shade trees
