Where Did You Register?

Hi, everybody! I am expecting my first in January, and being a little older having to buy baby gifts for my friends who have babies, I know that I was always frustrated and overwhelmed going into BabiesRUs - I hated it!! Looking for stuff on the registry and of course, just not knowing what new moms needed, I felt inept.

Well - now it's time to register, and I live in Arlington and the only place to register with that kind of selection is BabiesR - I've resigned myself to registering there - but I wanted to know if there are other cute-sy boutique-y places to register for a good selection of clothes and other important items? My husband and I are also considering registering with Amazon - prices for the big things like car seats and such seem to be better on Amazon.

Advice?

You could register at Right Start (Dallas), Babies on the Boulevard (Fort Worth off Camp Bowie), Snug as a Bug (Fort Worth off Hulen), you could also try Pottery Barn. Congrats!

Target has pretty much everything Babies R Us has. It can be purchased at the store or online.

I remember the first time I walked in to Babies r us... I turned around and walked out crying! it was so overwhelming!!! So I grabbed a friend ( a new Grandma, but another Mom will work) and made her go back with me, I had no idea what I would need, recruit a friend for help, like someone else you will easily learn babies r us after you give it a chance.

personally I buy most gifts at Target for the ease and convenience of it. best of luck

I registered at Babies R Us and Target. Once you understand how Babies R Us is set up it is easy to find things. I use to hate shopping there as well, now I love it and realize they have a better selection of some things than Target. However, Target is convenient for most people to get to and have a good selection of some things. My husband and I went to both and looked around to figure out what we wanted and then went back and registered our second time around. You could also just look on line and see what you want before you go register. Babies R Us website has lots of reviews of products to see what people like and don't like.

I did Babies R Us and Target. Babies R Us can be overwhelming especially when you try and figure out their registry print out but they truly have the best selection of items. And you have the advantage of being able to try out all the car seats, strollers, bouncy seats, and high-chairs. Target is also great but I run into the problem of our local store being limited on what they offer in store, I ended up going to 2 stores and adding to my registry that way because different stores carried different things. When you register on-line at Target they carry a ton more items than the stores do and sometimes they end up being available on-line only.

Karla's right - once you get used to it, Babies R Us is very easy to navigate, and they do have a better selection than any other place. As someone who's been to dozens of baby showers in the past 5 years, I'd advise you not to register at cutesy places - at least not for anything you really, really need. Those places are ridiculously overpriced, and usually not convenient for everyone on your guest list. When I've had to go to a shower for someone who only registered at a cutesy local place, I've just purchased them a Target gift card. Also, I know people who registered on Amazon for all of their big things, and they ended up getting none of it - I think because most people postpone buying gifts until just before the shower, and then there's no time to wait for shipping. If you have a lot of family and friends out of town, though, Amazon might be a good option.

I registered w/Target and was able to do the whole thing online! They even give you check lists for ideas of what to register for. I loved being able to see all the reviews of the products so I could choose the best options! Only one thing tho, you have to be careful becuz alot of the items are only available online, so if you have alot of friends and family that like to shop online then that will be ok..otherwise make sure you have a good selection of in-store items as well. It tells you up front so you'll know. They seemed to have everything I was looking for, but I didn't register for any clothes because I had already been given a ton of clothes from friend w/babies(hand-me-downs) So Im not sure on their selection of clothes! Good luck!

We registered at Target and Lone Star Baby as well as Babies R Us. Lone Star Baby (there is one in North Richland Hills) is good for big items, but they have cute toys and things, too, and they will help you decide what to register for if you need help. Good luck!
