My mom wants to take her grandkids to Orlando for the weekend and most likely stay at the Nickelodeon Family Suites, I wanted to help her with that by finding her some good rates online, does anyone know where I can go to do that? I visited that site but the prices there for the time she wants to go is very expensive, just thought I try and find something cheaper.

What can I do next?

I love using kayak.com. It's great to compare hotels, airfare, etc. They run a search on the other sites like travelocity.com, hotwire.com, etc. It's one stop searching.

I am not sure what rates you have found but some of the Disney hotels are $79 a night, with shuttles running all day to the different parks. That way you park at your hotel and let Disney do the rest! We found that to be very convenient. Have fun!

Doesn't say where you live. If you live in Florida they have a Florida resident deal that runs from May until Sept. usually. Also AAA is a good place to get discounts. McDonald's sometimes has discount books with good deals in them. cheaptickets.com is pretty good. Also you might want to look into joining a membership with Holiday Inn. You get really good discounts and it doesn't cost anything to join. Depends on how often you plan on using a motel or hotel.

I recommend Hotwire.com. It's similiar to Priceline, with the exception that you can read information about the hotel before purchasing it. It even tells you if what you are buying is a resort, motel, condo, etc. and what ALL the amenities are from pools to playgrounds to buffets/ restaurants. You can narrow down the areas in Orlando very easily, from Kissimee, to Downtown Disney, to Universal Studios area.

They are very generous with their rating system, meaning a 2 star on there will likely get you a very nice Holiday Inn Express or similiar. We recently stayed in Orlando at the Sheraton Safari, which was very very nice for about $70 a night (that was considered a 2 1/2 star). If you look it up on any website, you would see what a deal that was, for a WEEKEND stay. We've also gotten a Holiday Inn and upgraded to a kidsuite for no extra cost before....that was about $60 a night. If she's looking for Nick Family Suites or something similiar, then look on there for resorts of 3 or 4 star rating. She may not get that particular one, but there are many many great resorts in Orlando that will impress the grandkids all the same. ;-)

Anytime we plan to do Orlando for a weekend, we will only use Hotwire now. Why spend tons of money when we only live an hour away?

We went to Disney Feb 23rd weekend and my best advice I can offer is be cautious of the "great rate" hotels - we stayed at one that from the outside looked good and was $50 a night. The room was not bad, not all that great either - a bit ronchy. I was surprised. It wasn't dirty or disgusting... but the tub had no bath plug at all - no manual one or one attached to a fixture and I have two small children. The bathroom door wouldn't lock either and sometimes - just sometimes - that's important! :) When I asked for the plug the girl at the front acted like I was inconveniencing her and she had to leave the front office to go to the maintaince office to get me one. Watch the shuttles too - ASK SPECIFICALLY if THEIR shuttles run all day = I asked before I made reservations and they said they ran every 30 mintues - NO they did NOT. It ran TWICE a day ONLY - from our hotel and Disney. We saw the Nickelodeon Hotel and thought of trying to get a room there next time. You just about need a small fortune to go to Disney!

Most online travel rates are about the same. I love to travel and one of the best things that has happened to me and my familiy is that I became a part of the YTB Travel network. MY husband and I joined this network to start our own home based buisness that is operated by the mother company out of Illinois. It is very easy. I sale travel by word of mouth and send people to my website (which is maintained by the company's headquaters.) By being travel agents you are open up to a world of discounts that you would not imagine. My daugters (now 8 and 14) and I went to Nicolodean hotel over a year ago and really enjoyed it. I invited my college girlfriend and her daughter to meet us there and had a great girls time out. I was able to take advantage of a FAM rate that was around $100/night. That is just one of the many perks that this buisness has to offer. This buisness is a legitimate travel buisness that allows you to learn the travel agency ropes at your own pace. It is so easy. If you are interested in more information about how you can get started, you can check out my website at www.brookstravel.org and click on the presntation to see how this concept works. YOu can also check out the rates my agency offers for this trip. If you compare our rates to others, it won't be much differnt.
