Where Can I Buy a Crib?

I am due in 11 weeks and we need to buy a crib asap! We didn't originally want a convertible (crib to bed) crib, but it seems like that's what stores sell the most of. We have looked at Babies R Us, USA Baby, and Once Upon a Child. Any other places we can look? We don't want to shop online; this is our first baby and we want to be able to see/touch everything!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well, we finally bought a crib today! We got a regular crib, not one of the convertible cribs. We found it at Babies R Us and it was in stock, so no worries about having it in time for baby! I would also recommend Baby on Grand for a great selection.

Baby on Grand has tons of cribs and options. I think they even have catalogs to look through. It is on Grand Ave. in Saint Paul.

We got our crib at Baby Depot (part of Burlington Coat Factory). They had so many cribs set up with baby bedding, so it was easy to see what everything was like. We love the crib we got - it has an attached changing table with drawers and shelves that I LOVE. It was about $400, and worth every penny. It is a convertible one even though we plan to have more babies and move our daughter to a toddler bed before then... I would definitely recommend Baby Depot - they also have tons of other baby stuff. Good luck!

We bought our crib at Baby Grand on Grand Ave. in St. Paul. They have GREAT service (they are stroller experts as well if you still need one of those) and I thought they had a good selection of very nice cribs. I did not like the quality of the cribs at the bigger stores.

Even if you don't buy a crib there, it is still a fun place to shop around.

Good luck!

You might want to try www.craigslist.com to see if anyone is selling their crib and then just make sure that there are no recalls on it.

I think it's called Grand Baby or Baby Grand, but it's located on Grand Avenue in St.Paul. There's also Cribz in the Galleria in Edina. For more modern tastes, check out Bebe Babble, which is located around 44th and France.

Our first crib we bought at Babies'R'Us...and paid a pretty penny for it.

our second crib we bought on www.craigslist.org for about 25$ and then I went and bought a matteress from target.

we did get the crib that converts into a daybed then into a full size bed, then we had another baby and have no idea what to do with the 'full size bed part, so we really haven't saved ourselves any money in the long run...as we have no real use for it...

I would recommend craigslist, as fast as you go through baby things, it is a nice place to get things you don't need for many many years.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Enjoy every moment and take those "Belly" pictures - it is soo fun to look back and see how big your tummy was!

Have you tried Once Upon a Child - it is a "gently used" children's store. I just sold my crib to them. THey are very particular about what they take and make sure the crib is in great condition and works properly. Best wishes - M.

I got a very nice crib made by Young America at a reasonable price (around $450) at Baby Grand in St. Paul (on Grand Ave.). It is not a convertible crib. Personally, I don't care for the look of the convertible cribs. It took about 6 weeks for the order to arrive. Baby Grand carries tons of different lines of cribs, although they only have representative samples in the store. They carry everything from $200 cribs to $2000 cribs. Have fun shoppping!
