I'm trying to find a small plastic mug/cup with one or two handles for my son who at the moment is nine months old. The reason I want some is when he's ready to move onto a normal cup with no lid. He really enjoys drinking from his sippy cups with the lid removed but of course they have the ridges to screw the lid on at the top of the cup.
I've searched through Amazon.com and can only find one.....and it's about $15. Target doesn't have any, only the bottle type cups with flip up straw lid things. But I want time to learn how to use a real cup.
Any ideas?
I found a melamine one a few years ago at a thrift shop. I haven't seen any in stores like that either. However, I also bought a thinner plastic one with a monkey on it- the tail formed the handle- at a zoo gift shop. I even saw some slightly bigger plastic ones in the souvenir area of one shop. It had raised rubbery animals and location on the sides. Good luck!
How about tupperware? They have the little plastic cups that have the lid with the spout. They also have the plastic tumblers with the lids and straw holes. And with tupperware you know it isn't the cheapy plastic like you might find at the discount stores. You can go to their website and look at a catalog. I know a fellow mommy who uses these cups with her one year old and it works for her. So maybe another option for you to look into.
Walmart has them on line and in the stores it's hit or miss. Babies r us has them both online or in the stores...I checked on line if it says in stock they should have them at the locations, if it says online the products is only sold on line not in the store locations.
I have a niece having a baby and I have gotten her a few different cups and bottles in case she needs them and for a few different age groups not just new born...so i too have been looking for items I liked to use back in the day for my kids.
The Tupperware kids cups are great, I've had them for years. They don't have handles, but you can use them with or without tops and the tops snap on, so they don't have threads for the lids.
we got ours from one step ahead (onestepahead.com). they have pink or blue with wider bottoms so that they don't tip as much and two handles. they also stack and lasted through 2 kids.
I own a store in Charleston & I used to carry a big plastic mug w/2 circular handles from a company called DCI. I don't know if it's bpa-free or not & it may be a little too heavy for him,but it's worth googling.
Toys r Us has mugs with names (or a few cute phrases for kids with "off" names) for around $8.
I was gifted one from Ikea. It's plastic with handles and comes with a spouted lid that you basically just push on. The spout has no valve or anything preventing liquid from leaking out so I just leave the lid off.
Ikea sells a place setting of kids dishes (suction cup bowl, spoon, bib and cup). The cup is short with handles and the lid has a spout (no valve on the inside). The lid pops off and there are no ridges on the cup. My 2 year old daughter uses these and likes them a lot. They come in blue and red I think.
