How do I get in touch with the moderators? I have sent a PM to Jillian with NO response. What gives?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

ETA - Posts and answers are disappearing with no explanation whatsoever. There is absolutely no consistency as to what's being deleted. And, I open up my feed to see a nude profile picture that still has not been removed. What is going on with this selective moderation?

Hi all, thanks for the post and feedback re: moderation. We are working continually to improve the site experience and we are making improvements to how we moderate the site on an ongoing basis.

It is possible a post may get through from time to time. As always thanks for helping flagging them up - that helps is greatly in identifying them quickly.

- Jake

I have reported the worst of the recent posts, with my recommendation AGAIN that all first-time questions go past the moderators before they are posted. Maybe this should be just from new members/account, maybe not so much from long time members who just don't ask questions at the beginning. But maybe there should be a 2 week period during which new accounts/posts have to be approved.

What if we ALL demanded that new questions from EVERY SINGLE NEW MEMBER go through an approval process? There is strength in numbers.

She's on the west coast - Los Angeles I believe - which means her day doesn't start till about 3 hrs after east coast does.
I'm not sure where Mike was/is located but having a moderator in Eastern Time zone meant for moderating that worked well for a lot of us.
West coast means there are hours in the morning where all heck can break loose and we get to see it before they start their day.
If you think that's not ideal - it could be worse.
Having a moderator in India would mean moderating would happen after most of us were asleep.
Jillian is all good and well, but I think we need some coverage by someone on east coast time - even if they just did the few hours till west coast wakes up.

Additional:
I sort of thought we had moderators over the weekend - for awhile anyway.
Are we back to having none over the weekends/holidays?
Guess it looks that way.

Additional:
I sent a message to Jake - he's taken care of it.
Thanks Jake!

She's new to the job of moderator. Give her feedback. Then expect that she's read it.

I left a text with Jillian about the same things you complained about. She responded by saying she'd pass the information to the IT people. I see changes that let me know they either were already working on the problem or heard me.

I take that back about changes. I've been on this.site for a couple of hours withwithout difficulty other than learning to wait for ad to be loaded. There were few pop up ads I the space below my typing. I could type without all the interruptions and mostly without having my words changed. My answer to your question is did just bounce around. An d sites response to my typing is slow and inconsistent. I do not have the time and patience to deal with multiple pop ups while I'm typing. I can't wait for pop ups to finish loading because they come one after the other. Perhaps the IT people are working to make ads more streamlined. I would like Killian to keep us informed. I will send her a text referring to this post.
A couple of words have been changed to I. At least one word was repeated. Going back to edit is difficult. Geez,.screen has settled down. I do not understand! Feedback from IT might help.

My keyboard disappears and scrolling is erratic..Screen jumps back and forth. Took me 3 attempts, after my post was acceoted to be able to get back to this screen to add to this post. I am going to make a more concerted effort to block the ads. I'm willing to see ads when they don't seriously make posting difficult.

I agree Jillian should let you know she got the message. If you don't get that feedbook, write again and ask her to let you know if she got it and her response to your post.

Reconize that shE works certain hours and probably has other responsibilities too.

I suggest respectful feedback will help. I'm feeling a bit disallusioned now.

Okay I am kind of chuckling that it came up in the newsletter. I don't get it so I didn't know, but yeah that would be kind of shocking,

I haven't seen anything removed.

Hello all,
I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing incidences of spam or a lack in forum moderation. I assure you that I am in the forums daily and check our spam filter often. That said, as Jake pointed out, I'm afraid items can slip through before we've caught them. I apologize for today's inappropriate image/post. Spam is checked daily, but it's possible that things can get posted before they are flagged. Also, can someone please inform me as to what image appeared in today's newsletter. It should have been the image associated with the article (a mother and daughter looking at a laptop). My worry is that we experienced a hack if that's not the image that appeared in your newsletter. Feedback would be helpful.

As one user pointed out, I am indeed in touch with those who post inquiries or are experiencing challenges - typically within 24 hours. If I am sent a private message, I try my best to respond within 24 hours as well.

I would also like to add that any post that is deleted is done so because of a failure to abide by the Mamapedia guidelines. Mamapedia is primarily a site for parenting topics and concerns - though we realize that other discussions may arise. In any case, we request that everyone offer helpful advice and support rather than judgment, shaming or inappropriate remarks or insults.

I appreciate your helpful feedback understanding as we continue to make site improvements.

Best,
J.

I would suggest that we stop responding to the troll directly, or even stop further posting on this thread. Contact Jillian directly or report. Otherwise, you are feeding the fire for this idiot.

ETA: oh my word...the post JUST came up on my feed. EWW.

you can send them messages. Jillian is pregnant - I think she's due soon - and Mike is in Texas. Jake is in Virginia.

There aren't any trolls that I have seen.

Did anyone notice the article at top of today's MP email which included the profile photo - it was about INTERNET SAFETY!! Haha! Step One: do not look at MP profile pics.

I reported the one before this question earlier this morning. Hopefully they'll pull it down soon.

ETA: Read Diane's suggestion that moderators could read new posts from new members. I'd go for that.

If these people enjoy reading our responses, then why give them an audience?

I sometimes review purchases that I've made online. My review can take a day or so to appear. Doesn't bother me.
