My son is 17 mo. He has all 4 molars all 4 bottom front teeth and all 4 top front teeth (12 in all). He has been really fussy about us brushing his top front teeth fro awhile now and I am thinking that maybe his eye teeth are coming in? I was just wondering on average (knowing all children are different) when did your child bud their eye teeth? They seem to have this line on his gum but that has been there for months now and I thought awhile back they were coming in but no luck yet. He has never been a cranky teether either but lately he has been and has been putting things in his mouth to chew on more so than usual.

Sounds like they're on their way by the signs of chewing & fussiness. My son was an "easy teether" too--until the eyeteeth. Be aware, the eyeteeth for my son were the WORST. Stock up on some pain reliever & teething tablets. Let him chew on frozen washcloths.

I think it was indeed around that age when our daughter's eye teeth started coming in. They seemed to take forever (several months!) for all four of them to get all the way in. However, generally she was only fussy when a tooth was on the verge of breaking through the gum. Once it actually broke through, she would be fine for a while - at least until the next one!

My daughters eye-teeth starting breaking through at approx 21 months. I had a similar experience as the other Mom's that responded, in that, these were some of the most painful to cut through for my daughter. She had no problem with her molars, but with her eye-teeth, she drulled (never had prior) and put whatever she could get her hands on in her mouth. The good news is, after the eye-teeth, this is it for awhile!

(Tip - my daughter loved to chew on a frozen piece of cooked corn on the cob - it really seemed to help her whenever she had teeth coming in)
