When Did You First Feel Your Baby Move?

I am 10 weeks today, and I know it's generally too early to feel any fetal movement, but I am looking forward to it. With my son, I believe I was 14 weeks when I first felt movements that I could pinpoint as baby movement. Now that I know that feeling, and I'm more in tune to it, I'm thinking I might possibly detect movement earlier.

So I was just wondering, when did you FIRST feel your baby move?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I may be wrong on this, but I've been feeling some "bumping around" like Rachel described. Just a few times, but I feel something in my belly, that does not appear to be gas... just wondering if it's my little blob with a heartbeat... :)

I swore it was like 14 weeks, but my doc said it was probably just gas. But by 18 weeks there was no doubt about it. She was a ninja!

Sorry Nikki! lol

1st son - I didn't know I was pregnant until I was 4 months. I was young and had no idea of such things. I thought I had a tumor and went to the doctor, lol. Um, yah, preggo! I was a gassy girl then so I didn't realize I was feeling the baby move until it was really the baby, lol. So I was further along.

2nd son - 8 years later and more mature and experienced. Felt the first kick, not movement, at 13 weeks. My doc didn't believe me that I could feel it that soon. He said that the baby would have to be pretty special to do that. My husband barked at him that he must be then because he kicks so hard like little needles enough to make me cry!

Triplets - I was only 8 weeks. I actually started with quads so there were 4 babies in the pushing out as I was already into maternity underwear by that time and I started feeling movement then. Crazy time.

Usually you won't feel movement as early with your first because the little flutters and stuff can resemble gas or tummy rumbles so you won't recognize as early. When you do recognize that first movement it's the grooviest!

It was close to 20 weeks with my first and with the next 2 I felt the flutters earlier I think by a couple of weeks. I just sensed the movement. Pretty cool experience IMO :) Congrats!

Nikki G I laughed at your response,, some stuff, who knows! But, I know this fact about my first baby only because of the situation I was in. I know for a fact, I got pregnant on Friday the 13th in August one year. My husband was working out of town and only home on weekends. We happend to only have sex that friday night. I know how my cycle ran and I know I got pregnant that weekend. Then once we knew I was expecting, we decided I should move to where he was working and we packed up to leave. We spent our last night at friends since we had moved out of the apartment and when I got into the bed that night, I felt this little flutter and almost like if you ran your finger a couple inches across inside my belly. I had the feeling it was the baby, and it continued to do this same thing every few days for weeks and became what I knew to be as the baby moving. Well, I know we moved on Oct 30 because the day after we got to the condo where my husband was staying, was Halloween and I had to go buy candy to hand out to kids. So, August 13 to Oct 30. About 10 weeks and a couple days? I know that seems like really early to feel the baby, and especially with the first pregancy, but it is how it happend for me. Years later when I was pregnant with our daughter I dont remember feeling move for the first time. Have no memory of her firsts,,lol I know what date I concieved since I was using a tempurature chart and fertility drugs. So I know that date, but not much more. Some stuff gets written down in their baby books, but not all. We think we will never forget some terrific milestone or funny thing they say, but we all forget eventually.

Somewhere between 18 and 20 weeks. I do remember that I had a birthday a couple of weeks before and was thinking - surely that baby will give me a kick on my birthday - nothing. Then on Mother's day, in church with the organ swelling, I got my first real movement. My daughter has a flair for the dramatic, so I guess she must have known. The next year on Mother's day, the pastor who was a good friend of ours re-told the story and I held up my baby daughter for everyone to see. Not a dry eye in the house.

I guess I was backwards, with my daughter who was my first I felt her at 12 weeks. she would flip over. As time went on she moved less and was not a kicker, she liked to do flips and stopped doing them as much as she got too big I guess. With my son, my second, I felt him much later(maybe 15/16 weeks), he did not do flips at all. I wonder if I felt him earlier but didn't recognize it because I was expecting the flips, but I remember feeling what I thought was gas, and he turned out to be a kicker. He loved to kick all the time right up until he was born. But I remember thinking around 15/16 weeks, hmm I think that is the baby. But I had that feeling much earlier and thought it was gas because it was so different from my daughter. so my 1st I recognized and felt much earlier than my second.

I think I was about 14 weeks. The movements were so small I wasn't sure if it was just wishful thinking though. Around 16 weeks I definitely felt movement.

With my 3rd, VERY early!! I could definately feel him bumping around in there. It was kind of creepy because it wasn't like he was kicking and punching and flipping; just literally 'bumping around' ;)
