When Did U Exercise Post Regular Delivery?

I don't mean heavy cardio or anything, but I feel like a flabby beached whale and am curious what I can safely do before 6 weeks post delivery. I know I will be tired, I just wonder if I will be able to sneak in some planks, walks etc. thanks

What's funny is that, as it has been years that I've given birth, at first I thought the question in the heading was talking about the post office. It's been a long time!

I was taking walks within the week. Best wishes to you and the little one!

a week or two.
of course, you start off slowly. you can start walking as soon as the bleeding slows down enough to make it practical. planks might take a little longer, or might have to be modified, but whenever you feel up to it.
your body will tell you when you can start strenuous workouts again, but there's no need for anyone to wait to walk!

I was a hardcore fitness person to begin with.
So after #1 (vaginal delivery), I was back at it, full speed at 4 days post partum.
After #2 (C-Section), 2 weeks post partum..staples and all.

With both kids, I worked out up until I delivered, making very few adjustments to my intensity (i.e.: walking on the treadmill is not "working out" to me...).

Planks will be your best friend, so start them early!
Doctors know VERY LITTLE about fitness and pregnancy, except that fitter moms recover more quickly. So if you know your body, I would suggest you go with how you feel, rather than when your doctor gives you clearance.

You can walk when you feel up to it. I'd wait to do much more then that until 6 weeks. If you had s c section you need to wait the 8 weeks. If a normal delivery walking n doing laundry n going up n down stairs will b plunty

Besides short walks, which I did immediately, I waited to 5 weeks, and then I just did a plank or two a week. I waited till 12 weeks before I started kick boxing again. I could have honestly started back up at week 6, but I stayed in bed till the last minute every morning instead.

I say, start when you feel up to if, start small and work your way back up to full workouts.

I was in a class at the hospital for aerobics up until the week I delivered. After that, within a week, I was walking in the neighborhood. Not power walking of course, but at least getting my blood pumping and and moving around.

By 2 weeks I was walking daily pushing my daughter in the stroller and I just amped things up as I felt better and up to more challenge.

It took me about 4 weeks before I was walking regularly.
My joints were very loose leading up to delivery and my hips were grinding something awful - it was painful.
The grinding didn't go away till about 4 weeks after delivery.
I lost about 20 lbs water weight during the first 2 weeks postpartum.
I was sweating all the time, my episiotomy stitches itched, I should have done the sitz baths more often than I did and of course I was sleep deprived.
So the 4 week mark was about when I was feeling more like myself and ready to be out and about.

When I had my daughter I was 18. I was doing crunches up to delivery. Fast forward 10 years to when I had my twin sons & it wasn't the same. I started crunches a week after delivering cesarean. The mental: I must be a 6 by the end of this month was pounding in my head. However, I was stressed, tired & suffered post-partum from all the unnecessary pressure to be Hollywood beautiful. You gave birth to a human!!! You did something that took 9 months to create. Relax a little & 'workout' w the baby. Lift the baby, play w baby, rest w baby. I know people don't always see this as working out but if you are doing small exercises that are building large bonds until your body is ready, you and baby will be happier when you get there!

Walking (with baby) is good. I didn't do much else more for several weeks. If you have any separation of your stomach muscles (the vertical line down your lower abdomen) you don't want to do any ab work for awhile, because you will make the split worse.

Hi...I had really smooth deliveries with both my kids and had been a runner for years prior to pregnancy. So, my OB told me it was okay about 2 weeks postpartum to do some light jogging. With my first, I did it and was thankful because it took only 3 months to get back into shape. With the second, I was simply too tired and never returned totally back to the same physique. So, my personal opinion is the sooner the better, but listen to your body and see how you feel.

Regular delivery right away. Start gradually of course but the sooner the better. You'll probably want to do gentle ab exercises at first, no sit-ups. I'm three weeks post c section now and I just walk, can't wait to do more but this time my doc specified no exercise for six weeks. If you had an uncomplicated vaginal delivery no reason to wait, if you find any time.
