Does anyone know this answer? I haven't asked our pediatrician yet, but Kayleigh is on a no dairy diet (our choice) and I'd like to find out when soy formula fed babies can ween to just soy milk. Any ideas?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

My husband and I are vegan and are raising our daughter this way until she can decide if she wants dairy. dairy is a no no in our house hold. Leads to early puberty... So while I appreciate all the comments, the anti soy ones are equally appreciated., at this point in her life our choice is soy or dairy.... When she transitions into something other than formula, we already plan to use rice milk or almond.

I would "guess" O. year. At least that's when my formula fed son started cow's milk.

It's the same guidelines as cow's milk... no earlier than 1 year old.

Initially you'll purchase the full calorie/fat version and when she turns 2 you can go to the "light" version.

becareful with feeding soy anything, unless there are allergies there is no need for soy anything.
Soy has natural estrogen in it and can be a cause for early puberty in girls . Among other things.

Soy milk is a highly processed (meaning it's original form has been altered with a chemical), high estrogen food. Babies who are raised on Soy are estrogen dominant, can start a very early menses, or worse if they are boys get little pee pee syndrome from suppressed testosterone. Estrogen suppresses testosterone, which little girls need too. If she does not have a dairy allergy, or you are just anti-dairy, I would recommend rice milk or almond milk. Soy milk is also very hard to break down, and it usually loaded with a lot of things that no one needs. Soy by-products are a general no no. Just look at the statistics for estrogen dominant breast and ovarian cancers, and little girls who have giant breasts and excess fat issues.

I did read your follow up response. I thought the early puberty came from the milk treated with hormones. Publix's milk does not have those hormones so I use that. I personally drink Silk soy milk - the plain one in the red carton. I don't do well with straight milk although I can eat other dairy products. For my kids though I figure as long as they tolerate it fine it seems like it is healthier for them - less processed. People have been drinking it for centuries so I feel like it is more natural and healthy. I respect your decision for yourselves to be vegan but just wanted to add my thoughts on the milk vs. soy or other alternative.
