I just started a new business. My youngest will have a summer program at her private school, but my oldest won't. I need something to do with her from about noon-2pm two days a week. Any suggestions?
Edit: my business requires me to be gone from about 9am-2pm, but my husband doesn't leave for work until 1pm, so take that into account. I don't want to take her with me to work b/c she's be bored out of her mind watching me clean!

What can I do next?

the community college has a ton of things for kids her age to "take". They have grants you can apply for to pay for them, and I think she can do more than one if she wanted.

that's for the cliff neilson rec center in arlington. sign her up for a class that she'll like. new friends, new skills. what could be better?
i see they have:

Day camp program offering themed activities including sports, crafts and special activities for children ages 5-12 (available during the summer, winter and Spring Break holidays).
Elementary classes in martial arts, cheerleading, art, basketball, soccer, dance, football, boxing, gymnastics and music.

Depending on how mature she is and since it seems she would only be alone for about 1 1/2-2 hours (based on the time frame you stated), twice a week- have you considered just letting her stay home by herself?

We don't live near you, but my son has had great experiences at the local Day Camp. He goes 3 days a week. They go swimming one day, have a field trip one day, do arts and crafts, play games. I just pack a lunch and make sure he has his suit and towel and away he goes! One thing I really like about his camp at the local park is that although there is shelter if it rains, they are outside pretty much ALL DAY unless they take a field trip to a zoo or museum or something. He has learned to play tons of old-fashioned games, and card games and just has a ball. It is really very affordable considering everything they do. Not many kids from his school go to day camp - a lot of SAHMs and I work full time- but he made friends very quickly and the counselors really try to make sure that everyone makes a few buddies each summer. Try a local day camp!

OOOHhhh you need to send him to Adventure Day Camp on Lake Grapevine! It is awesome and sooo geared to his age everything! They have kayaking, swimming, orienteering, archery you name it and they are open all day m-f during the summer. Also the the lady who runs it is a Mamapedia mom!

Look under camps on here or http://www.adventuredaycamps.com/site/

Let her know E. sent you. My daughter had a blast there past summer and has been going crazy waiting to go back!
