I have a 5 and half year old son and 6 and half year old daughter. I am 26 weeks along at this time with a baby girl. I am a single mom long story the guy has ran out on me pretty much. Anyhow. I was wanting to know what some of the most important things you took to the hospital when your baby was born and some of the things that weren't really needed to take.
Im asking this question now because I have never made it to my due date my daughter was a week early and my son was two months early so I'd really reall like to be prepared!

What can I do next?

I don't think I saw anyone mention dvds yet. We got so bored and they helped pass the time with all of that waiting. Good luck!

Here's a good online list: http://www.babycenter.com/packing-for-the-hospital-or-bir.... A few more things I didn't notice on the list: Slippers and any medication you take.

Good Luck!

1 or 2 of your own pillows ...its hard to get comfy in those beds .
chapstick or carmex
mosturizing face lotion
clothes for the last day , one set is enough
one set of clothes for baby
camera batteries
cellphone and charger
ponytail holders , comb or brush

they have pretty much everything else you will need. ive done this 7 times i think i get down now :)

Go ahead and bring your own nightgown/pjs because on morning of day 2 they let me wear my own clothes... I didn't have to wear that ugly hospital gown anymore. Oh and bring several nursing bras or sports bras -- comfortable ones that don't have underwire. Your breasts will be engorged and will need room to grow. Whether you're nursing or not -- you'll need to wear the breast pads at night to help control leakage.

Also, whether nursing or not ... bring a boppy pillow... it helps with nursing a lot! But also helps support your arms with bottle feeding.
Of course ... also bring clothes for baby -- a cute outfit/hair bows for the hospital picture. Onesies/hats. The hospital let me put my own onesies on her on day 2, too.

just remember, less is more! you are only going to be there for a day or 2 at most, unless something goes on. no you don't need 3 pairs of your fave socks. 2 will do. no you don't need your comfy blanket that you cuddle on the couch. it will just get stained somehow and they have the best heated blankets! find out what your hospital offers first.

Comfy clothes for sure. Also your own pain meds...ie tylenol or whatever. Its way over priced there and you will be billed for it. Camera is also a must.
