What to Get a 9 Year Old Boy?

Ask your daughter what he like--sports, Star Wars, video games, etc. There is no "set" toys for a kid on the spectrum. That's a little stereotyping. Find out what HE is into...it's not going to be the same as other kids on the spectrum....just like all kids, they have interests as varied as they are. My son is not autistic but he's into sports, cars and NOT into Star Wars or Super Heroes.......if all else fails, a gift card to a toystore would be great. My son just had a b-day party and got a cool electronic dart board.

something outdoors like Stomp Rocket. If he likes to build things, then something like Legos. It might be hard to come up with something until you find out what he likes. But stomp rocket is fun.

I'm not sure about this young man, but my son is 9 yrs old, and he and all of his friends love LEGOS and anything NERF. A soccer ball, basketball, book or board game is always a nice gift for a boy or a girl, I think.

We are also invited to a birthday party for a child on the autism spectrum and will be getting the child a gift certificate to a book store. Book stores not only have books, but educational toys, games, dvd's and cd's. We have actually given these to many of the children whose birthdays we have attended this year.

You can't go wrong with super heroes. Action figures, etc...

Can this little boy do any kind of crafts? We got my guy someof those crafts at Michael's, they are wooden models. YOu can paint them or you don't have to.

If the mom is not freaky about guns there are some Western sets in Walmart with little pistols and hats and plastic handcuffs.

My son has what we call Boy Pollys. THey are playsets with guy action figures instead of the pollys. Ours has wives as my daughter has every Polly imagineable.

Autistic children all respond to different things like any child. Classical music seems to be a big help to them. There are different companies who make classical music more fun for kids. Mine likes watching The Little Eisteins. It teaches music along with art, instruments and words used in sheet music. Though some autistic children can't speak, they can hear everything and understand. They just have a hard time responding. If you don't want to give him music, a remote control car is fun for any child. Even the wooden cars that come with tracks can be fun. If you have a teacher's store nearby, stop in and ask what they might recommend. They just might have something for children with disabilities.
