I'm going on a family vacation with my husband, and 7 & 4 year old in a few weeks after school is let out. I was wondering if there is anything that we should do while we are there? We've never been, so it's all new to us. Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

My hubby and I went to Savannah for New Year's 2011..it was AMAZING. I would move there if I could. There is some shopping, LOTS of parks, and lots of "touristy" shops on River Street (right on the water). We went to River Street Sweets, where you get a free praline, and they have the best fudge I've ever had. You can also go out to Tybee Island, which is a great beach to catch some sun..it was about 15 min away. Savannah is great because it's so laid back and relaxing, there's not a lot of hustle and bustle. Have fun!

Savannah, GA? That is the birthplace of Juliette Lowe, the founder of the Girl Scouts, so there's lots of age appropriate history there. I love Savannah. I love the spanish moss hanging from the trees, I must have taken a million pictures of the stuff. Savannah is really historical, that's what I remember (I went for one day over 10 years ago, LOL)... I was more into the 'haunted' stuff ;)

One of my kids lives about an hour from Savannah, used to live in Savannah. I think once you get there you will figure it out, they loved it there. Hit the visitor center, but the town speaks for itself from what I gather. I've been dying to go there myself.

Have a meal at Lady and Son's. It's Paula Deans restaurant and it's supper yummy!! You'll have to get there early to make reservations that same day as they don't take them ahead of time. You can walk down River St and check out all the shops and the view of the river. There is also a trolley that goes up and down the street that you can ride for free and plenty of entertainment happens along there and kids from SCAD doing paintings and the what not. Tubby's Tank Out is an excellent fresh seafood restaurant on River st too! There are also Ghost tours when you can check out the cemetery of good and evil. I've never done it so I'm not sure how scary it would be for the kids. The area is very historic as well so there is plenty to see and do. Check out the St. John the Baptist church as well. Very old and historic church that is open to the public. You can try this link and see if it gives you any info on what I've mentioned and more! http://www.savannahga.net/

There is also the Mighty 8 Air Force Museum right off 95. Never had a chance to check it out when we lived in Beaufort, SC but the kids might enjoy it. You'll also be close to Blufton, SC, Hilton Head, SC and Beaufort, SC which also offer historic areas to see as well.

Happy vacationing!
