I am going to go on a limb, without stating my own personal convictions... I want some general feedback from the mom community... what's your take on the MMR vaccine and how it's been said to be linked to Autism? What about chicken pox vaccine? Anyone have any feelings on that?

I hope that by posing a general question I'll get alot of varied feedback. Again, I am not going to state whether I'm for or against these vaccines... just asking for feedback!

Just a mom, wanting some feedback :)

What can I do next?

People need to vaccinate their children. These diseases can and will come back more powerful than before if we don't. The response below is 100% correct. It is the Thimeresol that is said to be the causing agent linked to autism so it's important to confirm with your doctor that it is not in their vaccinations. Should your child(ren) be diagnosed with autism after that- it is not a result of the vaccination.

I do not believe that any component of any vaccine causes autism, but if a child has something there that can be triggered, I think the vaccines can be the trigger. But, so can many other things...environmental, etc.

I typically follow Dr. Sear's vaccine book on the views of all vaccines.

standard vaccines i think are ok. but flu and chicken pox, i say no. we all lived through it and we are fine. as to the links to autisim, i am not sure, but i think if you can find an md to spread them out more and give them later i think it could be better. now having said that. mine had them all "on time" but we do not do flu or chicken pox.

Every study they have done shows no link between links and autism. They've taken out the thimerosal out of the vaccine, but studies in Great Britain where they never had thimerosal showed the same rate of autism. My sister has a son with autism, my son has mild Tourette's Syndrome, my daughter has ADHD, and we know that these things run in families together showing a genetic link. My dad, his mother, and her brothers and sisters had varying degrees of impairment from schizophrenia to just being uncomfortable in social situations because they weren't adept at reading social cues. All of these have to do with brain chemistry that isn't normal. Autism is a social impairment. My husband's son also has ADHD and mild autism. We're convinced there's a genetic link here. My sister's son showed some of the early signs of social impairment before having the mmr vaccine. If your child isn't pointing at objects by one year old its often an indication of autism or something on the autistic spectrum like Aspberger's. I believe the scientific evidence that vaccines don't cause autism.

The link to Autism and MMR vaccine was not proven with any scientific study. The Thimerosol that was used for the Stabilizer was removed and this was supposed to be the cause.
Chicken Pox vaccine: I have had both of my children (9yrs & 14 mths)Vaccinated. My reason when they are older their risk of Shingles will be decreased. If I can do something now to help my children avoid excruciating pain in the future I am willing to do so.
