What's Your Saturday Routine?

I'm curious to know what Saturdays are like for your families. Is it a day of running around doing errands? Do you do all your cleaning/laundry on Saturdays? Is it all about kids' sports and activities? Or do you try to keep Sat.'s open and free and lazy? For us we have only the middle of the afternoon set in stone, and that's when the kids go to their play rehearsals at the community center. We wake up late and eat breakfast together, watch tv, read, play outside, etc. then it's play rehearsal. I don't like to do a ton of housework on Sat. And I definitely don't do errands if I can avoid it, but I'll maybe do a load or two of laundry if it comes to mind. I love to make a big dinner on winter Saturdays.....something that will cook long and slow and fill my house with tempting aromas. For us Sundays are busy because of church in the morning and evening, and I'm a stay a home mom so I get all the errands/ housework done during the week, so Saturday is the day I just want to hang out as a family and take things slow

What about you??

What can I do next?

Sleep in. Go to Zumba. Do chores.

Send boy(s) to their dad's house for overnight.
Work in the yard.

Go out in the evening and stay out as late as I want because it's my free night! Tonight I'm going dancing with some friends. Woohooo. There are some positive aspects to joint custody ;o)

Frankly, my DH and I both work full time so we really don't want to run constantly on the weekends.

We typically sleep as late as the kids will let us...usually somewhere between 7 and 8 a.m. I try to do some straightening up and laundry etc... We have swimming lessons mid-day. After that, we come home and the kids can play. Often I lounge on the couch and read and/or take a nap. Pretty casual unless we had specific plans. Dinner is usually at home with the kids going to bed a bit early so DH and I can have some couple time...

Typically on Saturdays grocery shopping gets done as well as weekend laundry and anything else that must be done that day specifically. We always spend tons of family time together. Today we're going to be indulging in a few children's movies and right now we're all lazing about about after getting errands ran. We always do a weekend breakfast as a special treat as well as figuring out what's on our agenda for the upcoming week. In all honesty there is usually nothing pressing other than grocery shopping laundry that must be done. We actually live a relatively easy going simple life and aren't consumed with all the tons of extra curricular activities. My children actually prefer having their weekend to themselves; if and when they express a desire to do an activity then we'll look into it. Perhaps we're considered a "lazy family" but it's definitely the way we like it for now at least. :)

I grocery shop and try to get some freezer cooking done. I also deep clean the kitchen on saturday mornings.

In the afternoon we usually go swimming as a family and watch a movie.

We always have big breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday, and we always do family game time at some point.

No laundry on Saturdays for me, it's the only day I skip it.

Saturdays are:
Kids lessons, errands, more laundry, family time, playing, and hanging out, kids' homework, play dates, etc.

No matter what day of the week it is, my kids always wake up in the morning, early. BY 6:30am. They have been this way since they were babies. Me, no matter what day of the week it is, even on weekends, I am up EARLIER than everyone else. Only my Husband, is the one that sleeps in.

Sunday, are whatevers. My Husband usually does something with the kids... so then I get my alone time. He's good about spending time with the kids. Mostly because, his Dad, didn't. So he doesn't want to be like his Dad.

I am a SAHM too, and also work part-time during the week.
But everyday, I do cleaning, laundry, errands, chores, being with the kids, etc. everyday of the week, including weekends. And sometimes, I just do my own "I am not doing anything this weekend..." type things. Why? Because I take a day off, for myself. And I tell the whole family.
Oh and on Fridays, that is my own tradition of "I don't cook dinner..." so on Fridays, we get take out or my Hubby will do dinner.
I get so burnt out from cooking every darn day/night. So on Fridays, that is my own day off from cooking dinner.

When the kids wake up, we bring them onto our bed to watch TV while we doze and relax until we have to get up, eat and get ready for swim lessons. Afterwards, we usually run an errand or two that I didn't get to during the week and then often go out to eat lunch. After lunch, the kids take naps (later than during the week) and hubby and I either laze around watching grown-up shows on the DVR or he does some chores and watches old WWE or Howard Stern while I either run a few more errands or take a nap myself. Late afternoons and evening are for goofing off and family time, with later dinners and bed times for all. Sundays are more family goofing off and getting the house back to normal for Monday morning. Of course, we usually have events, parties, etc. that get squeezed in also.

Our Saturdays are filled with baseball practice/games now that it's baseball season. When we don't have any sports going we spend Saturdays doing big grocery shopping and whatever else fun things the kids might have going on like dates or playdates etc.

Sundays are our family days, we wake up and have a big breakfast with just us and then Sunday Night we have Family Dinner which rotates between my house, my sister's house or my Mom's house.

Saturdays are pretty open. Usually, one of us will take DD out, and the other will stay behind to clean/me time. Then lunch together, nap for DD, and couple time for me and DH :-).

When DD wakes up, we may go out again, or just lounge, color, paint, etc. with her

When we take DD out, it's all weather-permitting. In the cold we are regulars at indoor playgrounds, and PetSmart, where she likes to pet the kitties!

In the warm weather, we are all about parks and the pool.

So yeah, Saturdays are an anything goes kind of day. The housework will always get done, somehow, but time together is more important.

Every Saturday is different, according to the dictates of the kids' needs. Today it included me getting out of bed at 4:45 am to get food for my 22 month old who was screaming "HUNGRY" from his crib....and then put him back to sleep 1 hour later, only for my oldest to get up a few minutes later, and then the middle kid after him. So, ended up getting a VERY late start on the day, since my youngest slept from 6-9 am.

Saturdays tend to be unstructured. My husband works 3 Sats a month, so I end up just trying to take the kids someplace to play (in the winter), or in the summer we just hang out in the yard or at the park. After my kids finish their lunch we'll be going to FunFlatables at the mall, so they can burn off some energy. Then we'll come home, I'll give them a snack and a late nap, and I'll do some chores and take a shower.

Date night tonight!! About 1 Sat a month we have date night.

Our Sundays are busy in the morning with church, and then we always grab some lunch afterwards, and then I tend to run some errands in the afternoon (like getting things the kids need--new shoes, uniform pants, etc.) and my husband goes to the gym.

My son is on ski team and we are at our local ski hill every Saturday at 9am and we all ski all day till 3:30. Then we come home tired and make a big dinner! Winter is so fun...I love it!

I prefer staying home on Saturdays, although that isn't always possible. There is usually a game my son has to go to, but the schedule varies. Today it's 4PM, a couple of weeks ago it was 9AM. If I can, I sleep in and/or take a nap in the afternoon. I usually do laundry on Saturday, but not a lot of other house cleaning. I work full time, so I need at least half a day of the weekend to relax and chill out.

Saturdays are my slow days also. I sleep late and about the only thing I do is grocery shop. The only reason I do that is that I've found that if I wait until Sunday, the meat section is virtually empty! So hubby and I will go out to breakfast then the grocery store and the rest of the day is doing whatever we want which could be something or could be nothing! Sunday mornings are house cleaning.

Depends on what season it is. Right now....it's my day of doing laundry, catching up on all household chores, having my kids chip in and help, and running all the errands.
When soccer season starts it will be soccer a lot of the day (2 boys play) and garage sales! Yeah! Love garage sales.
My husband works a ton so I never count on him to be home. (he is working now!)
Sundays are indoor soccer games now. My husband is usually home from work around 2 and then we like to have a family dinner. Something good that we usually don't have time to make during the busy week.
Basically it feels like any other day of the week but with more kids home.

We usually take things slow on Saturday mornings, then do a fun family outing in the afternoon. Or the kids go off with their friends or their friends come over. My son has indoor soccer Saturday mornings for ten weeks, and this afternoon we need to go canvassing for Heart and Stroke since it isn't too cold out. I am a SAHM so I try to do all of the errands, shopping and housework during the week so we can enjoy the weekend, and I try to have all the kids activities during the week as well.
