What's Your Hubby Getting You for Xmas?

My hubby and I have never really bought each other gifts for xmas...except for our first xmas together. We would rather spend the money on our daughter and nieces! What we usually do is just by ourselves something. I get a new purse if I see one and he gets something that he has wanted. But we've decided this year to actually get something for each other. He knows me better than anyone, but he still wants me to give him some ideas. Now...can I think of anything 'fun' that he can get me? No!

So...I'm just wondering...what are your husbands getting you for Christmas?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

So many awesome answers! And I actually got some ideas to give my hubby! My husband is pretty easy to buy for...I'm lucky! He has never had a 'proper' wedding ring...we just bought a $10 silver band on Amazon...he didn't care...and all the money for rings went into mine! :) So, he is getting a new tungston carbide inlay wedding band. I'm pretty sure he knows he's getting that, but he doesn't know what it will look like! There are a few to choose from!

Thanks for all your great ideas!!!

I told my husband I wanted to a photography class, a pregnancy yoga class or some comfy clothes.

I'm so excited to get my husband's gift. A Japanese Steakhouse (Benihana) is doing something where you can come in for a one on one training with a chef, they teach you how to cook their food and a couple tricks then you come back later in the week and cook for three friends. My husband's dream is to go to culinary school so I think he will love this.

These aren't really "fun" but I've asked for three things so far:

A Magic Mouse for my Mac
A new pair of Merrell tennies
A pair of Pandora earrings to go with the bracelet from last year.

Some years we just get something big for the house and a bunch of small things--slippers, socks, blah, blah....etc.

I, at one point, had to wean my husband off of the jewelry kick (NOW, I regret it!LOL!). WHY? Because everything he gets me is really his 'techie' wants in disguise! The IPad for my Birthday? Totally something he wanted...so he got it for me. I couldn't have cared less! I wanted a Clarasonic! For Christmas, he wants to get me a new phone...I don't want/need a new phone! I want a Clarasonic!! I know I should be grateful for anything at all so I just suck it up and smile while my 3 year old navigates my IPad better than me!

Every year we get each other an ornament for our tree - the only requirement is that it has to have something to do with our relationship - a place we went or a special memory for us. We have been doing this since we met at the age of 18 (and had no money) and continue to do it now even though we have money. We even have a contest to see who can spend the least on an ornament with the greatest impact. Plus it definitely makes decorating the Christmas tree a special time for us both when we pull out memories from the past 17 years.

We usually do not exchange gifts, we just do things during the year.

However, this year, our daughter turns 16 at Christmas and she is getting my car which means..... I am getting a new car! Of course it will be bday, anniversary, and everything else for the rest of my life, lol.

Fiance and I decided not to exchange gifts this year. We get what we need/want when we need/want it, so we really need/want nothing! LOL Economically, it just makes more sense to put the money toward the other gifts we buy.

I hate it because I LOVE giving gifts. I could totally live without the GETTING, but it will be hard for me to NOT have something thoughtful for him on Christmas morning. sigh. But I promised I wouldn't get him anything, so he won't feel bad when he doesn't get me anything... lol

As for fun ideas, how about Ugg boots? Maybe or a hand stamped silver pendant with kids names? I want a nice, embroidering sewing maching (birthday, maybe?), but that would only work if you were into sewing... How about a gift certificate for a mani-pedi? Maybe a new cell phone? An ipod? Maybe a night at a hotel for the two of you? Before I decided to boycott Victoria's Secret, getting their gift cards thrilled me. Just some ideas...

my man isn't getting me anything this year. money is tight and we just moved in together. we want to do a decent christmas for the children so we're giving up buying gifts for each other. the one gift i want from him is to propose. we already have the ring so he wouldn't have to spend anything. i'm planning on putting together a cupon book or something for things i can do for him. something thoughtful but that won't cost money. hopefully you get something you want.

This made me laugh, because before we had kids, we really spent a lot of time on finding great gifts. THEN, came the kids. I am a very practical person, so I would probably be mad if he got me a tennis bracelet, or something like that. I have received some great gifts in the past - ipod touch, slippers, camera, spa day, and my favorite was last year's Brett Favre jersey. However, I do get a little tired of him wrapping up car parts and putting them under the tree. Wiper blades? Really? I know I need them and all, but...wrapping them and putting them under the tree?! How desperate are you, man? I've gotten tupperware with matching lids - which might have been more for him, since he hates searching. What about photoshop? I would love to be able to edit and play around with the pictures I take of the family. Electric blanket? Oops, there I go being practical again. It gets cold in Iowa (lived in Cedar Falls and Iowa City growing up). Just some suggestions......hope you two have fun buying for each other!

Yes, make him a list.
I have done that for my Hubby in the past.
My Hubby will literally take the list, go to the store I listed, ask a sales person for the item... and shows them the list his "Wifey" made... and then they help him get it or find it..... then they often compliment him on his "task."
Otherwise, my Hubby has NO CLUE... about gift buying. At all. For me.

But we usually only get for the kids. Who knows about this year if we get each other things.

I usually like to get things I need... and would not otherwise buy myself because I don't want to spend money on it. Like my face cleanser products.... like Clinique etc.

BUT this year, I might get an external hard-drive... because my computer hard-drive crashed... and he then had to fix my computer and I need another external hard-drive....

all the best,
Susan

We usually go out on a date and go shopping together, he helps me pick out clothes and vice versa. It's fun, and that's our yearly tradition. We usually have a spending limit, usually about $50 per person, so that's a cute pair of pants, and a blouse, or a fossil watch...

Or, I have a buyer's account on Etsy.com. I put about 15 of my favorite things in there, and he chooses one. Easy.... I just have to force myself not to peek at which item he purchased (I always peek anyways.)

Last year he got me a digital camera. Turns out that he went to wrap it on Dec. 23 and the box was empty! He then had to go to 3 different Target stores covering 50miles and one fender bender in a parking lot to get the camera. All with our 8y in tow!

Our first christmas we moved to a snowy mountain. So I asked for a full size spare for my all-wheel drive car. That's it? I can do that! He got me that, an emergency kit and a cell phone!

Most years I get perfume, a gift certificate to Hair Cuttery, and a music CD.

This year I am getting him cologne and repair parts for our truck and his ATV. - New batteries for each, brakes, power switches, lights, heater system, etc. I feel like I've bought a whole new front end for the truck!

My hubby gave me my Christmas present on Saturday, when he walked me into Jared's Jeweler and asked them if they could re-size my wedding ring (which I haven't been able to wear in 4 years due to pregnancy weight gain) and then stunned me by picking out a MUCH bigger stone than I had in it. I am kinda still in shock and would have been so happy just to have my ring back on my finger, but I can't lie, it is nice to see some bling on my finger :)

My ideas for Christmas presents were much more modest:
An immersion blender or hand mixer
A new fish tank for our Beta

For us Christmas is about the kids. Even though they're teens, it's still about them. So we really don't give each other much. If there's something I really want or need, I'll drop hints, write down the exact item, or go purchase it myself. Sometimes we buy something for the house.

This year he's getting me socks, I've already purchased them. I hope he's giving me a picture frame that I saw when we were on vacation and hinted how much I loved it. I'm also hoping for the handmade keychain we saw at a festival. I commented that the one his sister gave me years ago broke and how much I loved it. I even wandered off so he'd have a chance to purchase it for me.

Some "fun" suggestions.....
something sexy
gift certificate for dinner or a special event

Merry Christmas!

This year I bought him some clothes and silverware. Silverware, very odd, very practical, but he was the one complaining about "where did all the spoons go?".

I have also hinted for a pocket knife.that attaches to my key ring. you have to give hints hey honey I seen this at this place it cost this much and would be a good christmas idea. what about a weekend away somewhere fun like six flags san anotnio or a cruise or whatever.

fun if you like shooting could be a new gun what is your idea of fun? fun could be remote control cars for all of you so you can have remote control wars. funs could be a 4 wheeler.

Can't go wrong with anything shiny, sparkly, or smells nice. So jewelry and perfume for me. This year we may just take one day in December, drop the kids off at my parent's and go have a night on the town and get a hotel. Whatever makes you smile is what I say. Doesn't have to be expensive. One day wandering through a pawn shop I found a beautiful antique ring that I made sure hubby knew about that he got me for x-mas. Just have fun with it!

Hmm, clothes which I have picked out including 2 sweaters which I actually bought myself and brought home. I need a new watch but other than that i not too much into jewellery. We moved into a nicer home this past summer and could use new end tables and night stands, along with lamps, so hopefully will get the lamps and some new furniture. I am more of a practical person, so appliances and furniture are just great with me! We put some money aside when we sold our house and bought this one, so we have had some money to play with, we had to buy a new fridge last week, which we were going to use that money for a flat screen tv (we still have an old "big" tv). So I am going to surprise my hubby with a new flat screen, he has no idea and will be thrilled, he has been looking at tv's for at least 6 months now and checking prices etc.

We haven't bought gifts for a few years, usually we take a trip or buy something big for the house. However, my b-day is 4 days before X-mas and my husband always does an outstanding job! That's actually the day he proposed too.

He usually gets me things that all coordinate and he is fantastic at this, better than I am. He'll buy a sweater set or something like that, then pick out necklace, earrings, bracelet, some combination of costume jewelry to go with it and often times a matching bra and underwear set or socks. Or sometimes even a bag or scarf and gloves... He creates these combo presents and wraps everything separately, but all in the same type of paper so it's like a story as I open things. He'll do this with toiletry stuff too, or pjs and coordinating slippers and a throw blanket...

He has a great eye for color and fashion and helps that he is very meticulous, I love it though. I have received numerous compliments on outfits he has put together. It shows a lot of care and how well he knows me.
