With Thanksgiving only a few days away I thought it would be fun to see what everyone's favorite dish is on this day, and why?

What can I do next?

Its all about the turkey. I'm cooking for 20 person sit down meal with probably 10 different sides but actually I don't care about anything other than the turkey. 25 lbs plus I bought a turkey breast that's in the freezer because I LOVE TURKEY.

Stuffing, but not my mom's. Not sure what she does to it to render it inedible, but it's definitely not something I like. So...mashed potatoes. She is the queen of mashed potatoes. They always come out just right at her house. Oh and dessert, any and all. But apple pie is probably my favorite! Happy Thanksgiving!

Ditto on stuffing. I use 2-3 kinds of bread (cornbread, whole wheat and French, plus anything left in the freezer from the summer, like stray hamburger/hot dog buns), and I saute celery, onions, apples in butter (sometimes turkey bacon too). Then I add the herbs (thyme, sage etc.) and mix in some apple cider. If I make it ahead, I pour a little cider over the top before baking.

Why? I dunno. I love bread! I also love the mix of the sweet apples/cider and the savory onions/herbs, along with the mix of colors.

LOL - someone asked for recipes the other day! I loved reading what others do.

Stuffing. I put dried cranberries and chopped celery in it for consistency.

I love stuffing.

stuffing. stuffing. stuffing.

I use a combination of breads, like a wheat, a rustic white, and a slightly sweet/egg bread like Challah or brioche. We couldn't find Challah or brioche so last night my husband baked the perfect loaf of bread for the stuffing combo. I've cubed them all and they're drying in a barely warm oven right now. Then there will be lots of sauteed onions and celery, and real butter, and sage. Lots of butter.

Veggies!!!

I never get to have those traditional dishes except when we eat out at a buffet or have a traditional meal with someone else.

I love the sweet potatoes, usually less sweet and no marshmallows.

I love green bean casserole and salad and pea salad and deviled eggs and more.
