I have token to the him to the pediatrician twice now but they didn't really check him all they told me to do was to give him fluids that he was like this because of dehydration.

Is he peeing. That's the line between almost dehydrated and dehydrated. If he's peeing then he's still got fluids in him. If he's not peeing then he needs to be in the hospital with a bag of fluids going in via IV.

I would have looked at the doc and been pretty darn concerned. Food poisoning is dangerous for adults, for kids it's much worse.

Regardless of what's causing his illness, if he hasn't had enough fluids and vomiting, you need to take him to a doctor right away to make sure he's not dehydrated.

In response to your SWH:

Does your son have at least a few wet diapers a day? If he does, he's probably okay in terms of dehydration. But continue to try to give him as much fluids as he'll take. Kids this age are usually willing to take Pedialyte popsicles or Pedialyte powder that you add to water.

It's alarming while it's happening but I think every kid goes through a barfing incident at one time or another.
We can all go quite awhile without eating solid food - so that won't hurt him.
What is important is keeping his fluids up - so load up on Pedilyte - liquid and popsicles and keep him drinking it as much as he is able.
You want clear fluids - water, chicken broth, jello - and keep it up for several days to a week.
SLOWLY add back soft foods - BRAT diet (Bananas, Rice cereal, Applesauce and plain Toast) - be careful that things don't go the other way to get too binding and slip into constipation - a little yogurt will be good too.
After the puking has resolved, the diarrhea might take a while go away - start slathering up with the diaper ointment thick as you can now.
Our pediatrician told us that once a gut is irritated - it can stay irritated for quite awhile after the initial problem has resolved itself.
We went through 8 WEEKS of diarrhea - the diaper rash was awful.

Additional:
If you took him to a doctor and he told you he was dehydrated - they'd send you to a hospital so your child could be re hydrated through an IV drip.
Take him to an emergency room - and get another doctor.

I am glad you have taken him to the pediatrician....maybe take him to urgent care? The hospital? If he gets dehydrated it's DANGEROUS. And if he is not eating or drinking then I would guess that he is dehydrated.

If he did get food poisoning, he may just be dehydrated (like others have mentioned). Since the food poisoning happened on Monday (and if the cause was food poisoning), the illness from that should have passed but you may be left with dehydration. Please take him to urgent care if you haven't done so already. You also mentioned he had his 15 month shot. Some children don't respond well to vaccines (even if they did okay with earlier shots). Your doctor will likely tell you his shot has nothing to do with the symptoms you are seeing with your son. Hopefully there is no connection but I encourage you to do your own research. Find out exactly which vaccines he was given last Friday and search for vaccine side effects for each one that he received. Some vaccines are combined so it's important to find out exactly which ones he received. Again, hopefully there's no connection but here are a few sites you might like review.

He may have gotten the same food poisoning you got, but with a child this young who is that sick, you call the pediatrician. My guess is, he's not pooping because he's not eating. He can go without eating, but there's a risk of dehydration with so much puking and losing fluids/water. If your doctor is closed since today is Friday, someone from that office will call you back, or you can go to a walk-in clinic or "urgent care" center (just google it and put in your zip code, and a bunch of places will pop up). Do this rather than go to the emergency room. Have someone talk to your or look at him in an office setting rather than the ER unless the pediatrician tells you to go to the hospital.

Welcome to mamapedia, Y..

I would take him to an URGENT CARE and have him tested.

If he's not urinating (wet diapers), he's dehydrated. If his urine is bright yellow or even has tint of red? He COULD BE having internal issues.

DO NOT PANIC. Take him to an URGENT CARE and get him seen by a doctor.

If he's thrown up for 2 days, I would suspect he has something viral. That's just been my experience. Food poisoning usually involves diarrhea or at least loose stools - you don't mention this. If he's just been throwing up and is ill (crying, upset, not sleeping, fever, etc.) then I wouldn't expect him to poop.

Keep up with the water (or you can get the popsicles or even freezies I think that they recommend to keep kids hydrated, the ones you get at pharmacy), and just stick to foods that he might take - easy to eat after tummy upset. But most importantly - hydration. If he won't take any liquids, or can't keep it down, I'd go to urgent care.

Hope he feels better soon!
