What Is Your Two Year Old's Bedtime?

Just curious for those out there with two year olds, what time do they go to bed? My son is almost two and half; I try to make sure he gets up about 7am and TRY to get him down for his nap early enough. Even trying to limit his nap time, he never seems to fall asleep until 9:30 - 10:30.

So, when do your two year olds go down for bed/fall asleep? Also, any other thoughts? Thanks

What can I do next?

My 2.5yo gets up between 7-8am, naps start at 1:30 and she will sleep as late as 4-4:30 and then bedtime is 7:30. We are super strict about keeping to the schedule. Sometimes she does not go to sleep for a while but it is usually due to some sort of reason. Having a hard time calming down from a big day, teething keeps her up (we are still getting 2 year molars) etc.

My almost three year old goes to bed at 7:30 and gets up between 6:30-8:30 depending on what time we get up. If we don't get out of bed he usually doesn't get up. If he takes a nap, which is between 1-3, he usually falls asleep between 7:30-8:30. If he doesn't take a nap, which he still needs, he usually falls asleep right away.

Do you have a nighttime routine? That may help to relax him and get him settled. What time do you eat dinner? We eat at 5:00 ish if possible. I notice if we eat late that can hinder the evening plan. Good luck.

Because of our (my) schedule. On work nights, she doesn't go to bed til close to midnight and is up around 10am. And on weekends, she goes to bed around 10-10:30pm and is up between 9 and 10am.

My daughter is 2yrs and 2 months old.

It's too late!! My son is the same age and for the past month or more he's doing the same thing. The other 2 children (ages 3 and 20 months) are both asleep by 9 pm the latest. Today he wasn't asleep until almost 10 pm and he barely napped at all. I'm not sure what to do about it, and I commiserate with you on the issue. One thing about my son is that he has eczema and is kind of itchy at night and maybe that's contributing. Maybe there is something else bothering your son that may be keeping him up. Have the doc check his ears at next visit and see if there is any other possible reason. Good luck... it's tough when they are up all day and you hope you can at least get something done in the evening and by the time he goes to sleep you are ready to also!!! :-)

When my boys were 2 (the older two are almost 3 and 4 1/2 years now) they were on very similar schedules to their current ones. They go to bed a little earlier now, closer to 11:45 or 12:15 a.m. and get up between 11 and 12. My middle boy (the 3 year old) naps. They used to go to bed a little later a year ago.

Does he have to be up for a reason? Daycare? Nursery School? We're on the late to bed, late to rise because I work 9-5 and my husband works 3-11, so the kids sleep in enough that he can sleep a bit longer, too, since he's up so late. Works for us and we're not making an issue out of the actual times as long as the amount of sleep is enough until they start school.

My 2 is turning 3 next month and for the last 9 months he hasn't taken a regular nap (occasionally he falls asleep while in the car or when he is sick, but I haven't been "putting him down"). He goes to bed between 7-730 and is up around 7. I don't wake him up, we rarely have anywhere to be early. Unless your son is obviously tired and cranky everyday, all day then it seems the schedule works for him...if it doesn't work for you (you want him to be in bed earlier in the evening?) then try dropping the nap altogether...and yes he will be cranky for a while in the afternoons until he adjusts.

Bedtime seems to always end up being around 9 pm in the house. All the kids going down is so much easier if it's staggered a bit but he always went down a few minutes before older sis in a different room.

About 9:00 or 9:30. He gets up about 8:00. He takes a nap from 1-4. He is just not tired any earlier, if by chance he is, I put him to bed. I don't think it's a big deal as long as they are getting enough sleep and are happy during the day.

My daughter turned 2 on Wednesday. She has always gone to bed at 7:00. The past few weeks it has been closer to 7:30 or 7:45 because of the nice weather and playing outside.

Bed by 8 or 730 if I can get away with it. Although the other day she was ready for bed at 630! She will usually wake at 730 or 8 and take a 2 - 3 hr nap everyday! I got lucky with this one.

Around 8pm. We try to put him down no later than 8:30. He might talk for 40 min to himself in the dark, but sometimes he falls asleep right away. :) He naps at 12 for 1.5-3 hrs (it varies). Wakes up around 6:30-7.

My 2.5 yo goes to bed at 8pm, up around 7am and down for nap at 1230. Right now we are having trouble with him claiming he is scared and not falling asleep until a bit after 9. We are hoping it is a short-lived phase. He shares a room with his older sister so his scared stuff doesn't get met with much sympathy! Good luck!

I have 3 boys 5, 4 &2 and from a very young age, as soon as they started sleeping the night they have been used to going to bed between 7-7:30pm, it's like a ritual now because by 6:30 they are yawning and exhausted, they normally wake up before 7:30 am most of the time a lot earlier. My 2 yr old takes a 2 hr nap around 12 right after lunch but lately he's only been sleeping 30-45 mins just wakes himself up. I hope this helps some. Good luck.

8pm (more like 8:30 in summertime), but we let them "read" in bed for a while before lights out. Wake is anywhere between 7-9am. She naps 2-3 hours in the afternoon, so I don't mind letting her read in bed at night. She gets ~14-15 hours of sleep that way.
