My 5 month old cut his first couple of teeth a week ago and is still experiencing allot of pain. Right now we are using Hyland's Teething Tablets, but I usually have to give him 3 before the pain seems to go away. Can anyone recommend another brand of teething tablet that might work better?

I actually used Chamomile pellets dissolved in 4 oz of water and gave both my kids 1 tsp every 30 min. Worked AWESOME. Like night and day! You can find them in the Whole Foods stores or any health / homeopathic store. Good Luck!

I love the homeopathic remedies and use them completely instead of tylenol, etc. I'd love to know what an MD would say is so horrible in homeopathic remedies that they'd recommend tylenol instead.

There is another teething tablet named humphrey's, slightly different ingredients than hylands. I found it at CVS too!

I like the hylands teething drops too (used them a bit more at 5 months, but around maybe 7-8 months began using the tablets).

I talked to Gary Kracoff:

and he said that with homeopathy, it wasn't the large dosage as much as the frequency that you give the smaller dosage. So I give one of each of the two tablets, as often as 15-20 minutes for about 1 hour or until the discomfort subsides. It usually does within 1 hour. As much as I don't want to over- 'medicate' my child, it is homeopathic so you can't OD on it.

Good luck!

My thinking falls right in line with Christene G and Michelle L. We are also a homeopathic household. I've only used antibiotics with my 3 kids a couple of times-Staph infection, mid stage lyme disease. In both those instances we also used homeopathy to treat the whole body. Homeopathy is safe for children and safe to use when using other medications. The remedies do not interact or interfere with other meds.

If you are finding that using the recommended dosage at shorter intervals as others have suggested isn't working as fast as you'd like you can purchase the main ingredient and the one most likely to help the teething pain-Chamomilla- on it's own at Whole Foods. They sell in strengths of 6x, 12x, and 30c. These pills are harder and don't dissolve instantly like the Hyland's do but you can crush them and give them to your child. They will dissolve in the mouth.

Our homeopath recommends giving the first dose (1 pill), then giving the second dose 15 minutes later, and the 3 dose 15 minutes after that.

I'd be happy to answer any other question you may have about using Homeopathy.

Good luck!

Hylands are the best! They also make a teething gel. Hylands is homeopathic, and it is customary to give 3-5 pills at one time. Double check the directions on the bottle, I believe the dose is 3 tablets at a time. Here is a recommendation from Dr. Jim Sears...

We love Hylands brand and giving 3 tablets is typical for a homeopathic remedy.
Homeopathic is completely safe and whoever "heard" that children have been hospitalized from receiving a high concentration of it's components has fallen for blatant propaganda or doesn't have the whole story. (I do know of babies with certain allergies and reflux issues that don't use homeopathic remedies due to it's lactose base)(My son is allergic to dairy, but is not effected by this ingredient).
Homeopathy works by introducing a replicate, derived from nature, of the "problem" in the body. It brings an awareness to our system that there is a "problem" and our body can more easily detect the issue that is already present and use it's own resources to combat that issue. The tablets are not treating your babies pain - your baby is combating his own pain. The tablets are helping your boy identify his internal needs.

I have a 4 y.o. and a 10 month old. We will use tylenol if there is a severe fever, but that's about it. My 4 y.o. has never used anything else OTC or prescribed and we have been fortunate to be able to treat every illness she has acquired in 4 years with homeopathic remedies. My 10 month old needed an antibiotic at a young age - and I am completely fine with that, but all his teething, flues, colds, stuffy nose, even sleep issues...(it's been a full winter with a preschooler in the house!) have all been treated holistically with different remedies. Hyland's is an easy go-to in my opinion.
Like vitamins, homeopathic remedies haven't been tested and regulated, b/c it's not big business. There is no money in it. No secret formula to cash in on and it cost millions and takes years to go through those hoops. However, these remedies are pretty ancient and have been used for centuries in most cases.
My husband is a medical student and a huge skeptic since homeopathy is difficult for him to scientifically (biochemically) understand. (Not that he has tried very hard lol). Still, he can not deny the effectiveness and that it is risk free and has been won over for those reasons.
I should say that my brother's MIL is a homeopathic physician and that I have had the luxury to receive her guidance and their support. That paired with the extensive research I had to do to hold my own with my skeptic doctor to be husband has completely confirmed my expectations and security in using homeopathic products.

I hope this helps.
good luck
M.

Hi,

My pediatrician told me that Hyland Teething Tablets were the worst possible thing to give your child! He told us to stick with Infant Tylenol & Infant Motrin. The Motrin worked especially well at night and is an anti-inflammatory as well. There's something in the Hyland tablets that is very bad for kids and I was stunned when told how bad they are.

We used Boiron camillia. It was a liquid rather than tablet and super easy to give to DD. Another suggestion is to try an amber teething necklace. Worked well for DD. We have never needed to resort to tylenol. They wear the necklace and it works through the skin. I don't know why, but it worked for DD. I think I've seen them at Whole Foods or you can get them online.

You can give your baby infants tylenol, before he goes to bed, works a lot better than the tablets. I tried both, when he gets older switch to motrin, careful with weight and age, on dosage, read carefully or call his pediatrician. good luck !!

I was told to stay away from Hylands. They aren't regulated/tested, and babies have been hospitalized because certain components in those tablets are in too high quantities. Infant tylenol or ibuprofen is what I relied on.

Skip the teething tablets and just give him a dose of Motrin. It works the best for mouth pain.

Humphrey's #3. You can find it at Target's Pharmacy counter.
It was about $3.00 a bottle and all natural.
You can give it whole,
smash it and liquefy it then rub on gums, or have them drink...

worked like a charm!
