I am asking for my sister she was 7 1/2 weeks prego and started spotting. So the DR. did a ultrasound and said that there was no heart beat and that she was having a miscarriage. The fetus should pass in about a week or they could do a D/C. So she want everything to go as natural as possible so she went home and keep up her normal life. Since being at home she has stopped spotting? Dose anyone know how early you can see the fetal heart beat on ultrasound? or had anything like this happend you? very interested!!!

What can I do next?

As for my sister she has had a miscarriage and she passed everything this morning so NO D/C. She is doing much better I think that it was h*** o* her to really not know what was going on. She is felling better about it now. Thanks again Steph

I know that you should be able to hear the heart beat around 8 weeks for sure if not before. I would ask to have a sonogram to see for myself. The reason I say this is because my mom had this happen to her at 12 weeks in her pregnancy. She started bleeding and went to Dr. They said that she could have a D/C or just go home. My mom opted for just going home more for the natural thing too. She never went back to the Dr to see if everything was ok. A month later she started bleeding horrible. Within a few few minutes she was unconscience and they had to give her lots of blood. What they found out was that she never miscarried the baby and the dead fetus was poisoning her body. They had to do a D/C to remove the baby and save my mom. I know this seems extreem but I would hate for this to happen to someone else.

I would have your sister to have another check done and if they do not find anything on the baby, she has most likely lost her baby. I am 49 years old and have had 4 children and 5 grandchildren. on my 4th child I started to bleed at 5 weeks pregnant. I was not spotting but actually bleeding to the point that I had to wear a pad and I knew I was pregnant. I went to the doctors and explained that I knew I was pregnant and they did an ultrasound on me and said my uterus was the size of a 10 week pregnancy but they saw more blood than anything and that I was probably going to miscarry. To go home and keep my feet up. I went home and tried to do this but with little ones at home it was impossible so I prayed and in another month the bleeding stopped. When I went in the next month to see the doctor I was still pregnant, and she was doing fine.

Have your sister go get checked again and if they do not find a heart beat she most positively lost her baby. At 8 weeks they should know if she is alive or not, the baby would be growing...

With my daughter we saw the heartbeat when I was 6 weeks pregnant at my first appointment, but this recently happened to my sister...just last month. She went in for her first appointment (she should have been about 8 1/2 weeks) but there was no heartbeat. They said the baby stopped developing around 5 weeks when they develop the heart valves. She only spotted lightly as well and had actually stopped before her appointment. They did a D&C a week and a half later and she had started spotting again that morning. Did they test her hormones? My sisters hormones were dropping in half about every 2 days. So they tested her on a Friday morning and then on a Monday morning so they would know for sure the baby wasn't developing.

I'm so sorry this has happened. I had an u/s at 6w5d and the heartbeat was 150bpm with my 2nd. With my first baby I had several bleeding episodes that were more than just spotting all through my first trimester and into my second. They finally did an u/s in my 5th month and didn't find the source of the bleeding and my baby was fine.

If she was just spotting and not passing any clots or anything, I'd go in for another check. Drs can sometimes miss a heartbeat, especially if the dates are off.

At 6 weeks the baby is all heart. The whole baby beats. It is actually very neet to watch. I think they told me at 4 weeks it is faint so they wait till six to be sure.
