I got a female dog from the pound...I have had her a little over a year and she is always peeing on everything!!!I have tried rewarding her with treats when she does the right thing, puting her in her cage for "time-out"...but nothing is working and now that I am towards the end of my pregancy I don't know what to do.

What can I do next?

Get the book, Their Smarter Than You Think, by a mr.Loeb. It is the best darn book on training dogs and easy as heck!

Crate train the dog. Keep her in the crate and only let her out when your going to go for a walk. At night keep her in the crate. Walk many times a day and validate her when she goes outside.

There are sprays to spray the pee areas that get rid of the old pee smell. This is important to remove the smell.

That's all I can think of.

First have you had her checked by the vet to determine if there is a medical problem (bladder stones or a urinary tract infection)? Is she spayed? Where is she urinating? Is it always in the same spot or is she peeing on specific things? Also crates should never be used as punishment. Dogs think of crates as a den and should feel safe there. I always told my dogs it was a good boy or girl house and gave them a treat to get in it. Good luck with her and your new baby when you deliver!

My brother and sister-in-law had the same problem with their dog when she got pregnant. The dog ruined their mattress, all of their pillows and 2 sets of sheets. However, the dog stopped after the baby was born. Maybe its the hormones pregnant woman produce. My cat jumped and scratched at me throughout my entire first pregnancy, now with the second one he wakes me up every 2 hours at night. I digress...My brother's Vet said to make sure you spend time with the dog, paying a little extra attention to it. It's just aware that there is going to be a change soon and feels left out. If the extra attention doesn't work maybe you know someone that can take your dog temporarily?
I hope everything goes well with your new bundle of joy and your dog! Good luck.
