I’m looking for an alarm clock for an 8 year old with sensory issues. She wants to get up on her own but hates the loud noise of typical alarms.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you for all of the suggestions. I’ve put several on my Amazon wish list and I will let her choose.

My husband has an alarm clock for the hearing impaired that has a bed shaker. The shaker is a small flat disc that goes under your pillow and when the alarm goes off it gently vibrates. You can choose to have an audible alarm as well or just use the shaker. They are affordable and can be found on Amazon.

I have a small battery operated travel alarm clock. It has a fairly quiet "beep beep beep" sounds when it goes off - the little travel ones are often quieter than bigger alarm clocks because they don't have a speaker or (since battery operated) power to be really loud. Another alternative is to get a radio alarm clock. Then you could set it so that she wakes up to music on the radio instead of a beeping noise.

FiveHome Kids Alarm Clock might be a good one for her.

I think it has colors, light, sounds, or a combo (whatever works). Check Amazon. Reason I like Amazon is you can read the reviews to see if any kids with sensory issues did ok with it before buying. Feedback is helpful I find.

Good luck :)

You can find a lot of ideas on google, Amazon.

Does she wear a fitbit or step tracker device? You can have a vibrating alarm with those and if you are wearing it you feel it.

We got one at Costco that lights up or plays noises like ocean sounds, etc. for the alarm. Or you can have it make a regular alarm noise. It's capable of setting two different alarms. My daughter likes it and it's fairly easy to use once you figure it out.
