What Have You Done Because Someone Dared You?

My ex-husband did naked cartwheels through our backyard once. It was more of a bet he lost, but they dared him to make the bet. Took a lot of tequila for him to get through that one. As for me, I entered a lingerie contest when I was 18. Took a lot of tequila to get through that one too!

What can I do next?

stone cold sober, I laid on the hwy (rural area - near our lake house), & my friends/family traced around me with white paint & wrote "S. is 30" !! The danged thing stayed on the surface of the road until it was repaved. OMG, people still talk about it at our lake community! My older son was 5 & we kept telling him (& the other kids)....."don't ever do this. This is totally stupid."

We even took a ladder with us so my uncle could photo shoot it! OMG. Middle of the night, only about 200 wkenders live in the area....still stupid!

I was in a training program. We were all 20 to 25. One of the girls turned 21 and several went to celebrate her birthday with her.

They enjoyed the booze too much and the birthday girl was dared to sing karoke on the stage in her birthday suit since it was her birthday. And she did. She said some I will if you wills and so she wasn't the only one. They said the bar wasn't a strip club before the birthday girl got up to sing her song.

Why is it most dares involve embaressment like the above?

Good luck to you and yours

Got a tattoo and got up on stage at a strip club on "amateur night". No regrets, still love my tattoo and went back three more times to dance!

Asked a way ridiculously hot guy to dance (when I was single of course), jumped in a pool fully clothed, took a shot of 151 straight (don't recommend that one), danced on a bar, rode on the hood of a car....that's all I can think of right now. In fact I don't think anyone ever dared me to get naked...should I feel bad that no one wanted to see me naked? :)

Oh wow!, lol most of my truth or dares were in my teenage years so yeah, a lot of nude embarrassing stuff and usually inside ritzy apartment complex pool areas, lmao.

More recently boogie boarding (which i was surprisingly good at) and singing karaoke (not very good at).

I don't think people dare me to do things because I will just do them. Actually I learned when my kids were young to make sure I explained that was an observation not a dare cause they would too.

I don't accept dares and I don't allow my children to make any. This is my line:

"Making a dare is a way to bully someone into doing something that they don't think is a good idea. This is not okay in our house. Accepting a dare or asking someone to dare you is a way to try and avoid responsibility for your own actions. This is also not okay in our house. If you want to do something and you think it's a good idea, do it. If not, don't."

I'm okay with bets, as long as everyone has freely agreed to the terms and will actually honor them. Kids quickly learn to be skeptical of bets that seem too good to be true. That seems like a good life lesson. :)

When I was 19, I got pulled over for speeding, my friend who was in the car dared me to tell the officer that I thought he was so struck by our beauty and just had to get our numbers as the reason I thought I was stopped... Well I said it ( and it took all I had not to laugh while saying it) he was speechless and just gave me a verbal warning!
