What Does Your Tooth Fairy Leave?

The 7-year old has lost 4 teeth so far. The very first tooth the tooth fairy left $5! "Because it was a first tooth." The second tooth was pulled out by the dentist because the big tooth was coming in behind it. So the tooth fairy left $5 for "being brave." The next tooth was $5 for no special reason. I talked our tooth fairy down to $1 or else he'd have to wear a tutu and wings and go begging on the street. At $5 a tooth we could go broke!

We leave 2 quarters for a "regular" tooth, and 4 quarters for a front tooth.

Sheesh! $5!?! It's all about the ritual, not the cash.

Our tooth fairy left a a note (in tiny handwriting, of course)and one gold dollar coin. I got a roll of dollar coins from the bank. It has worked out great.

The tooth fairy hasn't hit our house yet, but I know she won't be leaving $5 bills behind. I'm thinking $2-$3 for the first one and 50 cents to $1 for the rest. I know times have changed, but the tooth fairy used to leave me 25 or 50 cents a tooth and I was perfectly happy.

At 7 years of age, he knows what's going on. Should have never started with $5 but change to $1;it'll be o.k.

In our house, my kids got $5 for the first then $1 or 2 thereafter (can't remember and my oldest is getting one pulled later today - lol!).

My youngest had to have his first teeth the bottom ones pulled since the big teeth came behind, so he got $10 since he was a real trooper about that.

We leave our kid "pirate money" which is really silver dollars and gold dollars. He gets one of each and something about being able to clink them together makes him ever so happy. And now we will not be ever so broke.

I agree with you. You could go broke leaving five dollars. My brother left more than that and I nearly died.

Anyway, I've heard of various tooth fairies leaving dollar store prizes, gift bags with cool stickers, pens, pads, small games. I've also heard of the fairy leaving books, coloring books, game books, and so forth.

I think the smartest tooth fairies keep a bag with prizes hidden away in the closet for that surprise tooth pulled at the dinner table.
