My daughters boyfriend is coming home for Christmas. He is 18, a hockey player, and currently doing a semester in Boston. He is not fussy about gifts but still i’m stumped!

Any suggestions are appreciated :)

What can I do next?

My go to for teen are gift cards. I usually do Subway or fast food because they usually appreciate something they can grab on the go.

How about a travel/unbreakable coffee thermos or mug, and fill the inside with a couple of gift cards in reasonable amounts - to places like Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, or one Visa gift card that he can use anywhere, for books or gas or coffee or food? You can get reasonable ($25 or so) Visa gift cards at major grocery stores. Or put some cash inside.

your daughter should be able to tell you some of his likes and interests but there are also plenty of generic things to get. LED flashlight, car tool kit, hat and scarf combo, beard grooming kit if he's hairy, restaurant/movie gift cards, candy.

As a mom of hockey guys, you can't go wrong with something with his favorite team's logo on it. Ask your daughter what that is and you can get something like a travel mug, winter hat or other inexpensive gift. A jersey or game tickets are very expensive and probably too extravagant. If he still plays hockey, a gift card to Hockey Monkey or another hockey store near where he lives or goes to school might be welcome. If there isn't a store near him, he can always order online. Guys who play even casually after high school still need to replace their gear as it wears out.

For my niece's boyfriend, I have gotten things like movie or restaurant gift cards, a nice set of gloves/hat/scarf, cocoa in nice mugs, good chocolates, "man" kit with things like a multi-tool/flashlight/survival lighter, or itunes gift card.

My daughter and her bf of 4.5 years broke up in July but I have a gift for him.

Granted, they are both 23 so it may not be appropriate. This year I got him a bottle keeper because he likes bottled beer and this is like a Swell bottle and keeps it super cold.

I also like Swell bottles, Swiss Army knife, 4 in one car tool that is small and fits in glove compartment of the car.

What ideas did your daughter give you? She should know what his interests are.

My sister always got her daughters' boyfriends that age something small that went along with their interests. If he's into hockey, tickets to a game, a new hat (or something) with his team logo on it, etc. (or something hockey related) .. what about something something from his school (like a hoodie, etc.)?
My sister would get them something from LLBean that they could wear that was very generic - like a camp shirt, or mitts, or something.
We're an outdoorsy family and everyone hikes/camps etc. and so did typically the boyfriends, so gear like that for them .. she kind of went with that theme, so every boyfriend/girlfriend added to the family got the same thing but their own 'color' as they were added into the fold. It made it easy. Honestly, it was always appreciated. They deliver quickly and kids that age love their stuff.
Even a nice throw for his dorm room would be appreciated.
I agree gift card if you're stumped.
Your daughter should be able to give you ideas - my boys (just slightly younger) would like movie/theater gift cards, gas cards, fast food cards, restaurant cards, etc. too. You can't go wrong with gift cards.

Favorite gifts I've given my daughter's bf of 7 years (he is now 23):

Yeti cup with his frat letters
Monogrammed leather folio (for internship interviews)
Beats headphones (a few years ago)
ManCrate with a personalized beer keg and mugs (if he is over 21)

This year: a personalized poker set

Go to Etsy, it is a life saver!

It depends on how well you know him and how serious they are. You don't want to go overboard for a casual relationship or someone you don't know really well. Don't do anything too personal (no underwear, for example!) or too expensive if he's likely to feel overwhelmed or guilty if he arrives empty-handed. Bruins tickets and jerseys are great gifts - but extravagant. (And is he doing the semester in Boston now so he'll be done with Boston?)

I would do movie tickets (AAA sells them at a discount for chains of theaters, or you can pay full price through the theater), a restaurant gift card (he'll probably take your daughter to make it enough for both to get a meal), a gas card ($25 or so), or passes to a museum you know he would enjoy.

Starbucks gift card.
Either he'll use it himself or it's easy enough to re-gift if he doesn't want it.
A small flashlight always comes in handy.

How much do you want to spend? 2 tix to a Bruins game might be good. Can you ask your daughter his favorite team or player? You could get him a jersey for that team/player. If those are too pricey or if he might already have a jersey, a hoodie with his favorite team logo.

We bought my daughter’s BF a gift card to a local movie tavern. We put the gift card with a 5lb bar of chocolate. We will probably do the same thing this year.

Hockey player? Something hockey - what is his favorite team or player?
A Wayne Gretsky jersey if that is his favorite.
Gloves for winter - Boston can get chilly!
Not sure how much you want to spend - but there are many things to do - what does your daughter suggest?
