What Can "The Lil Girl" Drink?

Hi, Domani is 8 months old and I give her water in a sippy cup, which she very much enjoys in between bottles, but is it too early for, say, Pedialyte? She eats the Gerber Ones (once a day SOME days) but mostly her diet is formula... I'm just wondering if she's too young for Pedialyte or something that might make her water more exciting for her, she gets bored easily LoL

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Great answers, ladies, thanks! She actually really LOVES her water in her sippy cup, especially with a little ice in it... I'm so glad I asked and can feel good about sticking with just that... thanks again (I sent you all flowers) :)

J.,

I would not give her pedialite unless she is sick!~ Water is great for babies and formula is what she should be getting until at least 1 year. If you think that she is getting bored, try some new sippy cups--- You can decorate them with stickers or they do have some that you can color in yourself. Good luck!

I would stick with water..
pedialyte is designed for when they are sick .

My 4 year old drinks 2 cups of milk.. 1 4oz juice box and the rest is water.

This is the time to instill how important water is in the diet.

I agree, water can get boring. But I would stay away from things like pedialyte unless she absolutely needs it because she is dehydrated or sick. It is a good thing to keep a boring diet at times because learning to love the simple taste of water is a good thing. Too many kids now think P. water is grosse and that their drinks should have some flavor to them, thus they drink koolade and soft drinks, things with tons of calories and sugar. I will admit my daughter loves juice a little too much, so I end up watering it down. But on the other hand, she does not drink soda. So when we go out to eat we order her an ice tea if she wants something other than water or juice. Tea is good for everyone, it holds tons of antioxidant value and is harmless even to the littlest ones (assuming that you are served or are serving herbal tea and not black tea which has caffeine). My daughter likes green tea best. And here is the best part for kids who like to mix it up a bit, herbal tea comes in tons of flavors like: peach, pepermint, berry, lemon, ginger, etc...I am sure you get the point. Plus herbal tea does not have any calories or added sugar. Just make sure you look at the label and buy only natural flavored tea. I hope this suggestion helps ;).

Water, formula, and diluted juice (mostly water, just a bit of juice for flavor) is what my children lived on. Then it was water, milk, and diluted juice. I still don't give them full strength juice, too much sugar. Pedialyte is not a daily beverage, only used for when they have diarrhea or vomiting and they need to keep hydrated.

I would try to stick with water. There is actually nothing healthy about giving them juice. When I do give my daughter juice, which is rarely, I always dillute it at least 50/50. My daughter loves ice water and many kids get addicted to juice and won't drink water anymore. I would definitely not give your daughter Orange Juice. The Citric Acid might upset her stomache.
