What Brand of Diapers Works Best for You?/

I have a 7 week old baby boy who I recently moved up to a size 2 Luvs diaper and almost everytime he poops it leaks out..mostly on his back!! It is so inconvenient when it happens at 2, 3 or 4 am. What brand has worked for the rest of you?? By the way he weighs about 11 lbs right now and the size 2 seems to fit just fine. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

Well, it's been a few years since we've been out of diapers, but I loved Pampers and Luvs were a close second. Couldn't stand Huggies, always had leakage issues with them.

I'm grandmother of 13 month old beautiful and happy baby boy...my daughter and I had started out using Luvs because they were cheaper, and worked quite well for several months, but then she said sometimes at night he would wake up wet,so, we have switched to Huggies. No leakage there!

Luvs are the worst. Although, squirting up the back is hard to prevent. I always bought huggies. It was the only diaper that didn't leak--even when my baby got older.

I have always used Huggies for my kids...if you catch them on sale and use coupons you can save some $$, I know they are pricey. I have had very few problems with them, we buy them in bulk at costco to save $$ too :)

I used Pampers until my kids were about 6 months or so. When their bm's became more solid, I switched to Luvs. I always knew it was time for the next size when the blowouts started. They never make it as far as the number on the box says. You could try the next size just for nighttime.

I had/have the same problem. It is not every occasion now but every few. Here is a link to a question that I asked that is about the stains. There are some diaper ideas there too.

http://www.mamasource.com/request/7276646978425978881

I still use Pampers because I think they are softer. I have tried Huggies and use them for night time now. I want to get a cloth diaper cover but because the problem has minimized, I haven't yet. BTW, it took months for the problem to subside. My guy would go when I nursed him so I started using the small square waterproof pads (or thick cloth diaper) strategically placed under him. I also lined his car seat with one. Good luck.

.......Hmm, after reading your responses, mabye I should try Huggies again.

If you have a Costco card....the Costco brand diapers are fabulous! I think they are better than most brands and the price is better too. If you don't have access to Costco then I would suggest Pampers crusiers. Good luck

I have 3 boys- and I've used Pampers and occasionally, Huggies on all of them! I LOVE pampers. Watch for coupons & sales, you can find them for almost the same price as Luvs. But they work so much better!!! Also, make sure you have them on nice and snug-- that will make a difference in the blow-outs too. But sometimes there's no way around them! Good luck!

Huggies were the only way to go in the beginning. Then money was tight, so I tried the generic brands. Parents Choice is horrible. Always has been for me. However, White Cloud and Target brand are fantastic...and affordable. When it says 11-14 lbs., it doesn't mean the baby's weight, but what's inside the diaper. Lol.

I found that nothing totally stopped the poop up the back. What worked best though were huggies. It cut down on the mess for both of my kiddos. I never had luck with pampers/luvs. Too many gaps everywhere. Both of my kids got horrible diaper rash when I tried something other than huggies.

I swear by Huggies! Especially for boys! I had a daycare with 10 out of the 12 children wearing diapers. All but one used Huggies and had the same results that I did. One used Pampers and I found that although they didn't leak, they sagged more than Huggies and also smelled funny when wet. Just my experience-hope it helps!

Hi, M. -
I'm sure everyone has a differing opinion on this, but I tried EVERY brand of diaper out there and had leaking problems with every one except Pampers Swaddlers for the littler babies, graduating to Pampers Cruisers as they get crawling around. Still using them for my two year old twins. Swear by 'em!! They are not going to be the cheapest diapers, but I buy them through Diapers.com and get a good price, plus they are shipped directly to my door.
Good luck!
K

We have really good luck with the Huggies Snug N Dry diapers. The only time they have ever leaked on me is when my son started getting to the upper limit of the size that he was in at the time. You can also buy them in bulk at Costco or Sams Club which means they are cheaper :) He's 16 months now and in a size 4 and we're still using them.

A lot of it will depend on the shape of your baby. Luvs used to fit my son to a "t" but, he was a more chunky baby. However, my daughter was a lot leaner and Luvs were too wide for her. I used White Cloud for my daughter. You can only get them at Walmart (I never saw them anywhere else) and they were much cheaper than Huggies or Pampers. Huggies were always too narrow for my kids and Pampers always fit, but they were too expensive. You may have to try a few brands to see what fits him best. It's not usually the quality of the diaper as much as the fit. Good luck.

Once they start getting out a lot, I take it as a sign to move up a size, unless it is due to a bug or so.

I have a girl. I found that Pampers Swaddlers work best for us. I switched to Huggies when she turned 10 months because they seemed to hold more of the wetness during the night. I have recently discovered that the gell comes out of the diaper and sticks to her tushie and other parts. I am switching back to Pampers and will be looking to see if Pampers makes a night time diaper.

For newborns, I think Pampers Swaddlers are awesome! Mine was premie size when he was born and they just seemed to mold to his tiny little body much better. As he got older, they weren't my favorite anymore, but starting off I always suggest them.

I use cloth diapers and this is one of the reasons. Every time that I use disposables I have a blow-out, yuck!
Cloth diapers have been a life saver. They are super cute now days and don't use pins or plastic pants. Plus they will save $1,000-$2,000 per child!

We had some serious blow outs in the pampers and I switched to the Costco brand when she was about 5 weeks, they are FANTASTIC! She started having blowouts again recently and I just moved her up a size and no more blow out. We have tried huggies and she even leaked with pee, and cloth is not so good because she had blow outs with that too. I love Costco! they are the best! they have a little elastic on the very back and it makes a snug fit around the waist.

Pampers, definitely. Second: Target brand.

I tried all the other brands with my daughter, but most of them leaked consistently (The Huggies didn't leak, but they smelled awful with only a tiny bit of pee...I think it depends on the child for that). My second favorite for no-leaks are the Target brand. They are (of course) much cheaper and worked really well. They are the best bet for a cheaper diaper. I hated the luvs and walmart brands. I hope this helps!

When my guy was that small, Pampers Swaddlers worked best for him. He leaked through every other brand. I was sad when he outgrew Swaddlers, but he did well in the cruisers for a while. Around size 4 I moved him to Luvs and then to Huggies because that seemed to fit his build better.

I HIGHLY recommend the swaddlers for those first few months. They are great.

I was a die-hard huggies mom for my 1st three boys. After #4 came 5 months ago, he was blowing out of the huggies left and right -- and up the back just like your baby! I decided to try the Costco brand (Kirkland Sig.) diapers since if you don't like them, you can take back what you don't use and get all your money back. There was nothing to lose. However, they worked like a charm! I love them! They work great! Go give them a try -- if you don't like them, get your money back and try something else! But good luck! Explosive newborn poop is such a pain to get out of clothes! Congratulations on your new baby!! Have fun with your him -- the time flies like you won't believe!

Target sells a brand called "Natural Baby" and they don't leak at all and they don't sag. I have a 2 year old and every other brand gets saggy on him really quickly. An added bonus is that they don't have petroleum or chlorine in them, as most other diapers do, and they aren't expensive, like other natural diapers. They are usually on an end cap instead of on the shelf with the other diapers.

My girl is a big baby and the Luvs would leak for her, too. We also had problems with Huggies. Finally decided to stick with Pampers... we used the swaddlers until she was about 3 months old. She hardly ever leaks now (only when the daycare ladies forget to "pull out the ruffles" around her legs)!
