I have 8 month old fraternal twins. My spouse & i are maybe considering one more time but i would only like one instead of two. Does anyone know what the chances are for having multiples if you already have some?

What can I do next?

P.,

My twins are turning 13 next week. I was considering trying for another baby (1) when the twins were about 3. I chose not to because I was in my 30's, my sister had twins and I have two great Aunts that are twins. It's a personal family decision.

Blessings,
S.

P.,
I know several people who have 2 sets of twins but everyone I know who does has a few single kids in between. This is what I've noticed though. Even though all of the siblings are close there is a different bond that the twins have. For instance my friend and I can go to the store with one of the twins with another sibling and the twin will ask mom can I get this for Cassie, the twin thats not there. My friend has told me that the twins will make her other two children feel alienated at times. All four kids are really close though, but the twins do have a special bond. I'm rattling on but I wanted encourage you if it should happen again that it might not be such a bad thing. Remember also God won't give you what you can't handle. Heres a not so funny story I have another friend who wanted 3 kids well she had 2 then the third child was twins. Then she was nursing so she couldn't take the pill and thought she couldn't get pregnant and her husband just didn't get around to the vasectomy and she got pregnant again and had the 2nd set of twins. So then she had twice as many as she wanted. Never a dull moment. She's always thankful for all of us mom friends that help her get all her kids to their ball games, she always makes sure we have kids on the same team!!! Good luck also with your play group.

The odds are pretty high for me! I have 2 sets of fraternal twins without any form of help. Also, one set was from a first marriage and one set was from a second marriage. When I told my doctor I thought I might be having twins again, he said the odds of that are so slim and that he didn't think it would happen. I PROVED HIM WRONG!! Another doctor I asked said the odds of it are the same as being struck by lightening. I STAY INSIDE ON RAINY DAYS!! :)
Multiples are more common among:
Women over thirty.
Women who already have several children.
Women who already have fraternal twins.
Women who are multiples or have a family history of multiples.
Women of races that tend to have higher rates of multiples.
1)African American 1 birth per 70 or East Indian
2)Caucasian 1 per 88
3)Asian is lowest (Japan 1-150, China 1-300)
Women who get pregnant soon after discontinuing birth control pills.
Women who have taken certain fertility drugs.
Women who have had in vitro fertilization.

These are just some things to think about before getting pregnant and the odds of if it will happen to you! The book I got the stats from was written in 1994, so the odds are probably higher today then back then. IT CAN HAPPEN THOUGH! May you be blessed abundantly!! Feel free to email me

I"ve heard it's 80% chance.. I have twin boys, and I'm pregnant again.. I told everyone I hope it's one!! (instead of a boy or girl!!).. anyway, we found out 2 weeks ago it's is one, and it's a boy.
