Hi moms,

This will be my son's first 4th of July (well the first one he can sort of enjoy). I know there are probably tons of stuff happening over the metroplex this 4th of July weekend and we want to take him somewhere to watch fireworks etc. So, I thought I would ask to see where the moms are taking their little ones to have a good time this weekend. Are there any events happening? Thanks!

What can I do next?

I like www.guidelive.com for DFW area festivals, parades and family things to do.

I would recommend that you check out www.dallasmorningnews.com and click on 4th of july. It will give you a list of things that are happening in everytown in the DFW Area. I am actually taking my children on monday to KABoom Town that is located in Addison and then on Tuesday afternoon we are going to the Boys ranch in Bedford they are having a festival with things for the kids along with live band and firework show at 9:30. The one in addison is a very good show that goes on for about 30 minutes and they also have stuff for the kids it begins at 5:00-11:00 if I am not mistaken. Well hope this helps and have a happy 4th.

My family and I have a tradition of going to Addison's Kaboomtown. We get a room at one of the local hotels - Marriott Quorum or Residence Inn has great views, make sure to get a room that faces the southeast end of Addison Airport.

We are able to watch the air show, starts about 8PM and then the fireworks at 9PM in airconditioning and away from the crowds. This is always on the 3rd of July and we usually check in early and go to dinner and then take a swim at the hotel pool. We have had friends join us and they too check into the hotel and it is a blast.

Just a thought.

The City of Bedford has great fireworks at Bedford Boys Ranch but I too have heard that fireworks up close scares little ones. If you can watch from a bit of a distance that may work but it depends on your little one's tolerance for loud noises. If all else fails, you can do something fun with him during the day, and have a babysitter or family member watch him while you & your husband step out for an hour for fireworks. Good luck whatever you do.

Good luck... most fireworks displays (though some start tonight) won't commence until after 9:30 p.m. wish is WAY past my little one's bedtime. I just organized a quickie neighborhood cookout and we'll watch the fireworks on the high def tv upstairs ... my eldest (now 7) was terrified of them until he was about 4 years old... the loud noises really freaked him out. Poor kid
