We actually don't go out on Valentine's day because the restaurants are crazy busy, the waits are long and the service and food are usually poor because they are swamped. But, we still want to do something...what are you doing?

What can I do next?

don't know. It's Sunday. We were supposed to have travel LAX try-outs but due to the low temps expected on Sunday - they are postponed.

I have a cake that is shaped like a heart.

We typically don't do much on this Hallmark Holiday.

I think we're ordering pizza for a pizza party with the grandkids this year. I'm watching them the following Monday and Tuesday (no school and their parents are working) so we'll do something fun.

My husband always had reservations at one of our favorite places to eat a great dinner. For the last 2 years, we have included our daughter and her boyfriend. Hubby always gave daughter and me a beautiful box of Godiva chocolates and he gave me red roses.

This year will be a first without my husband. Man I hate the "firsts". I don't know for sure what I am doing. I have put together a pretty basket filled with goodies for my daughter. I know she and her bf will do something together. I suppose I will open a bottle of my favorite red wine and watch the Bachelor. I will make it a point to try not to be down that day and put a smile on someone's face.

When pete was alive, I would get things for a special dinner - usually a nice home made 'surf and turf' with all the fixings! No matter the weather, he would grill, and also get me flowers. I still have the roses from our last valentine's day. They are dried out, and very fragile now, but it gives them character! The 15th was his birthday, so we usually went out to eat.

This year, I will be cooking ahead for an 'wintry mix' headed our way in case the power goes out. Oh, and I will get MYSELF flowers and chocolate...because I am worth it! lol

We are staying home and cooking dinner together, and watching the mid-season premiere of The Walking Dead. It's "our show."

Either we're going to the pub for dinner (because we love it and it's not a Valentine's desination) or I'll make up some clams with a great broth. Weather-depending, we'll figure out what to do that day. For us, Valentines' day is more for Kiddo. My husband usually buys me flowers in the weeks before or after the holiday as there's a better selection. I've got some beautiful lilies and bright mums in a vase right now, thanks to him.

my younger and his gf are coming over! i'm so excited. not only do we get to watch the premiere of walking dead together, but since it won't just be the ol' man and me, i'll revive my old V-day special of a stab-and-bleed meatloaf.
with something else for my vegetarian future DIL.
and i have little boxes of exquisite artisan caramels for everyone. stupidly expensive but insanely good.
sent the older and his gf a huge box of truffles. i'm sad i won't get to see them.
but it'll be so fun to have kids in the house!

We plan to have a "family" Valentine's Day. Something baked in heart-shaped pans for breakfast-served on "conversation hearts" plates. We will have several Valentine balloons tied to a centerpiece on our table, make dark chocolate covered strawberries, and exchange cards. My husband and I celebrate "us" during our wedding anniversary in April.

It's my mom's birthday. So I will take the kids there for her birthday.
My husband is working all day.
So we aren't doing anything.
HOWEVER....it's our 13 year anniversary the 22nd and we WILL be doing something then. Dinner, movie...no kids!

We don't consider this a real holiday, so we don't do anything but get a little bit of candy for the kids.

I'm doing nothing for Valentibe's day other than taking care of my daughter who blew out her knee last week coaching softball. The same daughter is also a server and says although the list may be long they are typically parties of two that don't have a negative impact on service or quality because parties of two are much more smooth than the parties of ten they receive on Easter and Mother's Day.

Make fun Valentine's day food. Heart shaped muffins or pancakes with breakfast. Heart shaped (insert pizza, hamburgers, meat loaf, veggies etc) We have had mini heart shaped meat loaves before. Very rarely have we went out on that day it's just not a biggie holiday. Sometimes a card sometimes not.

Celebrating my MIL birthday. It was last week but we already had plans since it was super bowl Sunday so we said we would get together next Sunday not realizing it would be Valentine's Day. I told my husband the diamonds I am sure he is buying me will make up for the fact we are spending the evening with his mother.😆

Instead of fancy dinners. Why not breakfast at a breakfast joint? Or a simple meal at a 24 hour diner type deal during some odd hour of the day or night?

My hubby and I love romantic picnics in our livingroom or bedroom with a bottle of adult beverage, sexy fruit, and/or chocolates.

Perhaps dessert out instead of dinner. We've been know to even go out to the movies or dancing. Getting sample sizes of your favorite desserts from the bakery and the having a bite of each over candle lights is also nice.

We love lots of great things to do together which symbolizes our love without the commercialization of it and spending a ton of money. Think outside the box.

Well, it's on a Sunday this year, so that really limits things since it's a school night. We usually just exchange cards and try to have a date night sometime. Life is so busy that just trying to find a datenight is important.
