hi A.....i wouldnt worry to much about it, i know its MUCH easier said than done lol. im 27 weeks and i have lost a total of 18 pounds so far, and my baby boy is as healthy as can be. i was really scared at first and i have been to 2 different docs and they both said the samething. the baby will take what they need and be just fine. with my first daughter i lost 27 pounds while i was pregnant with her and she was 6lbs 4oz and very healthy and stil is. i guess it all depends on the person. good luck:-)

Don't worry. :) My third baby is 3 1/2 months old and I didn't gain a pound until probably my 5th month or so. I gained less weight over all than I did with either of my other two children and yet he was my second heaviest baby. As long as the doctor doesn't have any concerns about any test results and you are eating healthy, don't worry. :)

I agree with everyone else. You should be fine. With my second, I lost a ton of weight in the beginning due to morning sickness. I didn't gain a single pound until I was 7 mos. pregnant. And then I gained 8 lbs. in one week!

A.,
When I was pregnant, I lost 42lbs. People were afraid to even talk to me about being pregnant because they thought something was wrong. My doctor kept reassuring me that everything was just fine. I started to gain weight around the 7 month but never did make it back to my original weight that I was before I was pregnant. I delivered 10 days late, and my daughter was 7lbs 11 oz. Perfect size. As long as ultrasounds show everything is ok, I wouldn't worry too much about it? Hope this helps! C.

I dont think you have anything to worry about. For the first 3 1/2 months I lost 7 pounds! I had really bad morning sickness but after I got over that I started gaining the weight back and then some! I hear that alot of women gain most of thier weight towards the middle to end of thier pregnancy so I think your fine. Good Luck!

I know what you're talking about. This is my second pregnancy and I was down 10 lbs. throughout my first trimester. I am 16 weeks now and I'm finally up 2 lbs. As long as you're able to keep food and liquid down, you don't have anything to worry about. If you get dehydrated from throwing up, then it's an issue. It is weird though. It's almost as if you're not pregnant isn't it? It's like, "Hmmmm, why am I not fat yet?" :) I'm just hoping all of the weight doesn't pile on in one month :) Just mention your concern at your next appt. but it really is normal to lose in your first trimester. Good luck.

I am right around where you are and the same thing has happened to me. I gained 60 lbs with my first but this time I've lost 2 lbs and i don't think i've gained them back either. I was wondering the same thing. I can't help but maybe the advice people will give you can help us both. I do know that one of my friends only gained 15 lbs. with her second child and gained like 60 with her first. Maybe its because we know what can happen so we're more cautious about the things we're eating.

Hi A.,

I didn't gain a pound until 16 weeks and my midwife was never concerned. She said as long as I was taking my vitamins and eating healthy there was no problem. She said that the bare minimum is to gain 10 lbs by 30 weeks. I never worried again about my weight and I havenow gained a healthy 20 lbs at the 36 week mark.

Hope you have a healthy pregnancy

A.

I am 36 weeks now and didn't start to gain weight til I was over 5 mos. My clothes did not fit and I was already showing. It takes the weight from other parts of your body that doesnt need it or has excess. I have only gaines 20.5 pounds as of now.

A. -

I lost close to 7 pounds with my second pregnancy in my first 18 weeks of being pregnant and I wasn't even sick...I guess it was because I was running around chasing my daughter around so I wasn't retaining the calories and all...my doctor didn't see a problem with it though as the baby was growing as expected and measured normal and all. I think everyone's experience is unique, but as long as your doctor says the baby's healthy and growing, I don't think you need to worry so much about the weight gain, especially at only 14 weeks along. Best of luck!!

Hi A.!

I went through the same thing with my secong pregnancy. I was 5 months pregnant & still fit into my jeans & my OB didn't find anything usual, in fact he said he was glad. With my first pregnancy I gained a ton of weight in the first couple of months & my OB was not happy - he said you are NOT eating for TWO so slow down. The baby is getting everything it needs from you plus with the help of the prenatal pills he/she will be fine!!! I didn't gain as much as the first which was over 9lbs but my son ended up being over 10lbs in the end! Go figure?!

Good luck!

Don't fret! the weight will start piling on in no time!
As long as your doctor isn't indicating any problems with the baby, you're eating well and keeping it down, and staying well hydrated, you should be fine!
Try not to compare this pregnancy to your other one(s). They're always different! I'm 37 weeks now, but up until I was about 14-15 weeks, I had only lost weight, about 14 pounds. I didn't gain that back till about my 6th month.
So, as long as your doctor isn't saying there's anything wrong, then i wouldn't be too worried!

For my second pregnancy I did not gain as much weight in the beginning either. It is normal to gain a pound a week. As long as you are eating when you are hungry and not worrying about how much you eat but the quality of what you are eating you shouldn't worry. Every pregnancy is different b/c every baby is different. I ate different things with both pregnancies and gained weight differently, felt different etc. Don't worry as long as your doctor is content with your progress you shouldn't worry. Also if you weigh different than your first pregnancy that also is a factor.

Congratulations on your second pregnancy! The best person to answer this question would be your dr. A lot of things can contribute to not gaining weight...like you said, your more active than with your first, maybe you have morning sickness, not a big appetite because you're so active. I only gained 13 lbs total with my second pregnancy and 11 lbs with my first because I had so much morning sickness, it was difficult for me to eat too much. My dr. was not worried too much because I was somewhat heavy to start with so the weight loss on my end was a good thing. Trust your dr to tell you if it's ok.

Hi A.

Congrats on the second pregnancy. Always check with your doctor but this is very normal especially if you are busy with your first one and active. I only gained 14 lbs total with my second son and I too was worried but my doctor said this was very normal and the baby was getting everything they needed even though I was not gaining weight. My doctor was very happy that I didn't put on a lot of weight. My son was 6 lbs 13 ounces when he was born very healthy and content little boy. I was just active with my first son who was a year in half old at the time my second was born and wasn't putting on the weight like I did with my first. I put on 33lbs with my first so I was very surprised that I didn't put on the weight with my second son but it was fine and I have two healthy happy boys. One is almost 2 1/2 and one almost 10 months. Hope this helps. Good luck and congratulations again.

as far as I know you should have gained at least a couple of pounds by now. Eat some more calories and talk to your doctor. If you don't trust his/her opinion get another doc.

Hi A.! Dont worry. As long as baby is growing well (and your care giver can tell by the height of your fundus) there is no need to worry. Consider it the fact that you are more active and eating better. I gained 0 lbs with my 3rd pregnancy, but my baby was 10 lbs! As long as you are eating well and staying hydrated, the baby will get all they need and grow and think of it like the "pregnancy" is gaining, but you are losing...then you break even. Plus you have to keep in mind that the first trimester is minimal for gain. Most of your gain will occur in the last trimester. Good Luck and congrats on your new baby!

Dont worry! I was so ill in the first trimester I lost a few pounds with both of my pregnancies. Plus, I ate much better and I cut out soda and other junk. I only gained 20 lbs each pregnancy. My first was 9lbs at birth and my second was 9lbs 2 ounces.
Unless you were already underweight to begin with, I think you are just fine. And your provider would let you know if they had any concerns about your weight.
Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy! :)

Hello, I lost 20 pounds with my first pregnancy and 25 with my second. The Dr. didn't seem concerned as long as the baby developed well. Don't get me wrong I didn't try to lose weight I was eating a lot I think just stuff that was better for me and it helped my matabolism. Gave birth to healthy 7lb 9oz boy and an 8lb 15 oz boy.
