The place where people add you as a friend & walk past you in the street. Where relationships are perfect, affairs are started, & liars believe they are telling the truth. Your enemies visit your profile the most, yet your friends & family block you, & even though you write what you are really thinking, someone always takes it the wrong way, & people think your status is about them....

Vent over--The end!!!

I haven't had this experience in my 6 years of being on FB. I guess I have a different kind of friends. Although, I don't really care what other people think of me. If they don't like what I have to say, they can unfriend me- just helps me weed out the list.

My experience with FB is completely different. I only friend those people who I care to know about (I don't much are about the friends number next to my name) and I've been able to keep in touch with friends from my teen years who have moved out of state. The friends I've chosen on FB are respectful and kind to others and have a filter. No one (esp. my family) has ever blocked me. I have no drama on FB. Strange how different people experience things differently.

Wow, so sorry you have had this experience.

Mine is so joyful and fun to see people I have not seen in years. Keeping in touch with people and able to help them out at a moments notice.

I hope you delete your facebook so that you will not have this in your life,.

Guess I'm lucky not to have that experience.

I enjoy being self-deprecating about my kids, my parenting, my hubby, myself...I've always been a "what you see is what you get" person. My friends know this. I have no reason to lie to them, and my true friends have no reason to lie to me.

Weird. Saturday night I was approached by a woman I friended (because her husband is a real-life friend of my fiance and my daughter knows her kids). She hugged me and was all excited to hang with me in person for a little while BECAUSE we were fb friends. I thought it was sweet.

I have no drama on fb. I love seeing pictures of friends' kids that I hardly ever get to see. All my family is on it and we all behave I guess. Those who seem to hate drama are always the drama-causers in my life.

LOL...you forgot to add "the place where employers find out what you're really thinking...and fire you."

Also, "the place where fights begin which are then finished in the school parking lot."

And, "the place where you find out far more about your friends' and family's religious and political beliefs than you ever wanted to know."

I once had a former student post a very wonderful message about special needs children (she works as a horse trainer who specializes in working with special needs children). I copied that message to my own wall and had another friend, a special education teacher, rip that message to shreds. Then, the teacher and my former student went ten rounds over that post. I sure learned a lot about both women, as did the rest of my FB friends.

Oh, my.

As I tell my sons, don't post anything you'd want to take back because the internet is forever!

Great post!

It sounds like people just have drama filled lives. I don't friend the ones that I know are like that. I have only had one FB fight and that was with a friend that it was her way or the highway and I was sick of her attitude and her making me feel like and idiot. Since then any of the overly dramatic, whiners, drunk till you pass out every night friends have been deleted. It's all about who you let in your FB just like in your life. Everyone on my FB are people I share common interests with and get along great. If anything is said on FB that I don't agree with, I let it pass.
That and you can get sooo many great deals and giveaways :D LOVE those!

I feel like I have read this a million times today....oh yeah, on my Facebook.

If people really believe that then why have a Facebook.

Okay reading the other posts am I the only one who read this all over Facebook today? Seriously I am never on Facebook, I have maybe 30 friends and at least six of them had this posted on their Facebook today.....

If you're still on it -- get off. Why put up with the drama?

People will say, "Oh, you really have to be on it to keep up with me. We're so busy, posting on Facebook is how I let people know what we're up to."

If those people are your real friends, you can remind them that if they value you, they can e-mail you personally or -- what an idea! -- pick up this thing called a telephone and use it for something other than texting. If they can't be bothered to do that much, it's time to move on from their impersonal, look-at-me form of "friendship."

That works both ways, too. Give up "status updates" for the whole FB world and just contact your friends directly when you want them to know how you are, or want to ask how they are. A card would simply bowl most people over these days....

Your post sums up just some of the reasons I'm not on Facebook, never have been, and never will be.

Well put! Though I am now able to keep in contact with my cousins who don't live near by anymore, I have found that former classmates, etc. LOVE to use FB as a billboard for how perfect, wealthy, overall better off than everyone else they are, etc. Everyday I think I want to delete my account. But... then I don't. hahaha!

I deleted my FB account after being very active on it for 3 years. It was a distraction and time waster for me. The "drama" brought me down. Not bad but enough to cause me to be annoyed and I'm just too busy to put up with that negative distraction. The people I'd like to keep in touch with aren't even on FB or never post anything.

I can totally vent with you on that. Recently I got sobs - literally sobs - from my mother because I posted my about my gratitude that my in-laws spent the entire weekend helping us clean up after our basement flooded with the recent heavy rains. My FIL and BIL were at my house at 5am to help cut and carry out sopping wet carpet and then they went to our office to work on that as well - and the next day my MIL spent the day scouring my house with me because she said I work hard and need the help (in the nicest way, no offending done).

My mom's problem? A few days prior, she watched my girls for a few hours while she was extremely busy, and I said NOTHING on FB about it (mind you she asked if she could take them, and it was not needed but of course the girls love the attention). Never mind that many a time that she's watched my girls overnite I've posted something about date-night courtesy of Grandma, Never mind that I don't think I've ever posted about my in-laws before, Never mind that I am also a busy working mom trying to manage home, hubby's office, and new office rehab project and I cannot always remember every little thing...she was slighted in this one instance.

Since then I have recoiled from FB...I comment on others' status updates but don't post my own anymore. If she wants to know about my life she can call me (and as you may suspect there's more to this relationship hurricane than a FB flub).

Don't worry about it, take time off of FB or do like I did and just refrain from your own postings - it's actually felt good to do so!

Never had any of the experiences that you obviously have experienced on FB. I love to look at my friends' pictures and I don't post anything unless it's to announce something good in my life. I don't friend everybody who wants to friend me, but I only have people in my life who care enough to want to be my friend on and off FB. I definitely get annoyed with some of my friends' status updates (i.e. just got done eating a the best so-and-so I ever made) so I just delete their status updates from my home page.

Agreed! hence, the reason(s) and more that I deleted my account. For some, I think it's just a way to stockpile friends .. people talk to you at first then you never hear again. Also.. who cares about all the little minutia .. I think for some, it's their 15 minutes of fame..

I was thinking the same exact thing this weekend...you are "friends" on facebook, but ignore each other in public?? Hmmmm...kinda funny...what's the point of that (and yes, I am probably just as guilty!) I do like it to keep in touch w/ my best friends who live too far away to see on a regular basis...we still text, email and call...but fb makes it fun! I guess it's all what you make it!
