Has anyone ever been on this program and had great success with it? If so please share what worked for you. Going to meetings, just doing online or both. I really want this to work. I have finally beat the smoking bug so now this was next on my to do list. Especially since quitting smoking added 30 pounds to me that I didn't need to begin with! :-(
Also, if you go to meetings and are in the Rockwall area or if you are just in the area and want a buddy I would love to talk to you.
TIA for your help.
Jen

So What Happened?

Thank you all for your responses. I did join WW on Saturday morning. It's a bit of a daunting task, but I am determined to get back to my old self of a smaller waist line and healthier eating. If counting points gets me on that track I'm all for it.

I have never done weight watchers, but I know many who have and love it. I just wanted to congratulate you for quitting smoking! Such a positive step in the right direction. If you have the willpower to do that, you will have success in WW as well. Good luck!!! Stay motivated!

I did weight watchers after my 2nd daughter was born and lost 40 pounds. I loved it! I went to the meetings and loved it! You get to talk to other people about issues, if your having problems with things you can talk to your leader. Plus you can get great products and recipes from your meetings! My mom works for weight watchers as a leader so I have been around it since I was in highschool.....I am currently pregnant for number 3 and have every intention of going back to weight watchers to lose my baby weight! Good luck!

I have gone to WW several times in my life. First as a senior in HS to drop 10 lbs. Then a few months after my husband (then boyfriend) and I moved in and I had gained 20 lbs. I lost 17 lbs that time (this was about 8 years ago). My mom, sister and I started back in November 2009 when my son was 6 weeks old. I had dropped the 40 lbs I gained during pregnancy before starting back but still wanted to lose more.

I am down 18 lbs since November, but I have had my ups and downs. I rarely workout but know that would really boost my weight loss.

I have tried to do just the online thing and not weigh in at a meeting but I never seem to get the same results. I usually only stay for a meeting 1-2x a month. I do feel that staying for the meetings is better and really helps you start out the week with a good feeling (no matter how good or bad you did on the scale!).

One recommendation - pick out an outfit (no jeans/sweatshirt/etc) and wear the same thing every time you weigh in. That way you can be sure you are getting your true weight week to week. A pair of jeans can add 2lbs to your weigh in!

Good for you for quitting smoking! You are on your way to a healthier you!

I joined WW exactly six weeks after my son was born. I gained 50+ pounds with my son due to the fact I was on bed rest the entire last trimester and I was also put on a VERY high protein diet (over 100 grams a day) to prevent toxemia. They have put me on a special program specifically for lactating women, and the weight is coming off approximately a pound a week. I have been on the program for over 5 weeks now and have lost 7 pounds. I love the fact that I am still allowed to enjoy the foods I ate before, just less of it. The bottom line is portion control, and they give you all the tools to be successful with that.
As for whether to attend the meetings or to do the on-line program, I would suggest doing both. The on-line programs give great recipes and makes it quite easy to track your points, while the meetings allow you to connect with other women for support as well as to gain some great ideas.

I joined. Go to the meetings at least at first. You need the support and ideas they give you. If you attend meetings you also get the online tools free. I love the online function. I joined becuase a girlfriend went. She started before me but is the best role model around. In one year she has lost 90 pounds. I am still struggling just to make a pound a week. The big difference for us is that her husband loves to cook and is cooking for her so she knows doesn't have to do the whole let me taste it how is it thing. it's put in front of her. She does count everything. cream in the coffee butter on the bread. everything. When I can get it together and follow as well I hope to start loosing more.

I highly recommend WW! I just started this week doing it online to drop the lingering baby weight..lol!! I did it in college, right before I got pregnant, and lost the 15 pounds I needed to. It's easy and you don't have to "starve" yourself. When you really get the point system down, it's even easier! Congrats on quitting smoking! What an accomplishment! All the best!

I haven't done WW...but I completely plan to after I have this baby to shed the baby weight. I have several friends who have done or are doing WW and they're having wonderful success. The best success story I have is a friend that I've been friends with for 15 years. She's always been struggling with weight, always on some diet, and she'd shed the pounds only to pack them back on. Once she quit the diets...the weight returned.

Anyhow she started doing WW a couple years ago and has lost about 50 pounds and has not put any back on. She goes to the meetings with a couple girlfriends and then they go do something fun afterwards (go shopping, go to the park, go have a drink which they of course have to count). She said going to the meetings keeps her motivated...especially since she goes with a couple friends. But she said it works so well for her because it was retraining the way you eat...it's not just a lose the weight quick thing. It takes time...but they say you lose 1-2 pounds a week (any more and you're more likely to gain it back). So it's a slow process but you'll be eating healthier and smaller portions. She also said she does not feel hungry or unsatified either. So it seems if it can work for her...it can work for anyone.
Good luck!!!

My husband is doing Weight Watchers and goes to the meetings here in Rockwall. His dad (who is 60+ and has been overweight for 30 years) has been on the program for several months and has lost 50 lbs! No diet has ever worked for him, but he can do this. He can eat what he wants and the points are easier for him to keep track of than calories. He loves it, so that inspired my husband. My husband's name is Mark and he goes to the meetings on Saturdays at 9:30 AM in Rockwall. He is usually the only guy there, so if you see him, please say hello. : )

WW works definitely, but just like everything else it really is a life long lifestyle change. If you do it to just lose some of the weight and forget to follow it after awhile the weight will more than likely come back. I lost about 40 lbs some 5 years ago with WW loved it.. then got pregnant twice and fell off the WW wagon and here I am 50 lbs up from my lightest weighing in. So definitely it's a great program and works well as long as you follow it, so be sure you are ready for changing your life. It's a huge commitment.. Right now I'm following Atkins and I am down 6 lbs since I started 4 weeks ago.

Good luck in your weight loss journey, I hope you find something that works and you can live with in the long run.
