I have had 2 kids. My eldest was born 2 years ago and most recent is nearly 1 year old. With the first baby I lost al but 10lbs before I found out I was pregnant again. With the second pregnancy I've lost all but an extra 8 lbs. My total weight gain has been an extra 18lbs. I have tried exercise, weight watchers, calorie reduction, etc. Nothing is working. Do any of you ladies have any tips or tricks that worked for you?? I have a closet of gorgeous clothes I can't wear and would like to be able to wear them again.

So What Happened?

*** I workout approximately 5-6 days a week. I do 30-45 of fast walking on a treadmill with a good incline. Then I follow it up with 30 minutes of weights. I alternate upper and lower body. I've been doing weight watchers for 2+ months. I lost 12lbs in the first few weeks and fell off the wagon for a week or two. I've gotten back on. I am struggling quite a bit with eating the right things.
I am under a ton of stress and food tends to be my "medication". I am also severely depressed with the recent loss of my mother (2 weeks after my last baby came), and general anxiety as I'm trying to re-enter the workforce in this "fabulous" economy.

Okay, J., this is going to sound like TMI, so I am giving you fair warning. I am a runner. It is my mental and physical exercise, giving me my "me time". Last fall (late Oct/early Nov) I suffered an injury and couldn't run again until MARCH (!!!) of this year. Needless to say, I was totally freaked out. With the holidays (and yummy calories!) coming I knew I had to try something. In December, my hubby and I did the "25 days of Christmas", which was to us, having sex every single day for 25 days (we took off during my period). I watched what I ate (although still indulged in holiday sweets and wine, etc) and I lost 12 lbs in those 25 days. I laugh now and tell my husband that everytime I gain a few he is the big winner. We made it fun (early morning, late night, shower, etc) and it really made me feel better (happier, more connected to my husband) and losing the weight was just a super added bonus. Just wanted to throw it out there. I was shocked I lost so much in less than 4 weeks! GOOD LUCK!

I have been a Weight Watcher for 35 years, Lifetime member since 1987, and it absolutely works. Everyone hits plateaus, you just keep going and they pass. stop watching the scale and focus on drinking your water and getting the right amounts of food and exercise, and it will happen. if you're not eating enough, you won't lose, so be sure you eat ALL the daily requirements. Good luck, and remember--it's not a diet, it's forever.

It was so much easier to lose the weight after baby #1 for me than after baby #2. I don't know why that is, but... there you have it.

The only way I have been able to lose the weight was signing up for Adventure Boot Camp. Check it out, there is probably one near you somewhere. You will work HARD - but even so it's fun and a really supportive atmosphere. I don't think I've ever worked out so hard in my entire life, and I was always an athlete in school! Obviously in addition to working out at boot camp, I have been making an effort to eat healthy food choices, but I certainly haven't been starving myself. In any event, the weight has come off, I have stomach muscles again, my arms don't jiggle anymore, and I am feeling pretty good about my body again (except for these darn stretch marks! LOL)

Anyhow, good luck to you and don't give up! You will get there! =)

I recently lost my babyweight (27 lbs and from size 12 to size 4 in 4 months) with a great workout program, like yours, by making smart food choices, and eating about 1500 cals/day. I used a free website, www.nutrimirror.com, to track my food. The website calculates your calorie needs, which you can adjust with your exercise calories, and then you try to eat a balanced diet which provides all your nutrients, preferably from clean, wholesome food your whole family can eat. You decide what to eat, keeping your calories 500 below your energy needs (but always above 1200/day). I learned a lot about my food, what the energy/nutrient composition of it was, and the 'journal room' is very motivating and encouraging. I did choose to eat more of my calories from protein (about 25%) and I definitely didn't avoid good fats (like olive oil in my sautes and salads). Fat was 30% of my calories, and carbs 45%. These are still within the ranges recommended by the USRDA, but definitely lower on carbs. I feel that helped me stay fuller, so use the quantitative data on your food log to experiment with what works for you. GL.

Yes, I have a plan that works and I don't think you will be hungry. It includes two healthy meal replacements a day, snack bars, energy tea and even vitamins to keep you healthy and sated while losing fat, not muscle! The third meal is a healthy meal of your choosing with appropriate portions. This is a fantastic weight loss program and you can email me if you have questions or need support, or recipe ideas. What kind of exercise are you doing? I find that if I combine weight training with aerobics, I get the best results. When you build muscle, it's easier to lose weight because muscle requires more calories to survive. Plus, you get a nicer, toned look. My favorite videos are the FIRM series.

Triathlon! beginnertriathlete.com is fantastic starting place, check it out.

It's "2/3 what you DO in a day, and 1/3 what you eat" a trainer once told me. Dieting by itself can only do so much.

Once I increased my activity level, weight dropped away. I'm on my second return journey having just given birth to my second (~7 weeks ago, I'm 33) and can not wait to get back to training for my next race. I would also suggest NOT paying such close attention to weight, it's not the greatest indicator of fitness.

Great job mommin'!

Try these couple of tips that work for me. I cut what I think is a good portion size in half - always. If I am hungry an hour or so later I just eat a snack again, and do half of what I think I want to eat. Ultimately I end up eating a few more times per day but less at a time. It gives your body more time to process your food.

I have no idea what you eat normally, but some things I cut out are, deserts of any kind, anything fried, condiments (I use them but VERY sparingly), alcohol ( I do like to have drinks here and there so when I do I only order Vodka with club soda not tonic, no wine, no beer), and last but not least - NO DIET PRODUCTS, e.g., sodas, treats, etc.

Seems like a lot I know, but it seems to work. You will have to keep up the exercise also, I try to do something every day even if it is 15 minutes it's better than nothing and try to get in 3 days of weight training (muscle burns fat).

Whew, I think that is it. Good luck!

I just started the Healthy HCG diet. The first three days are a little hard getting used to the diet, but I like it cause I know exactly what to it. I was skeptical at first but then I just had three friends have extreme success with it. So I'm trying it. I'm on day four and have lost 4 pounds. I'me excited to stick with it. www.healthyhcg.com. Good luck finding what works for you!

J., I started running, which I had never before done in my life. I also eliminated sweets and deserts, and cut my portion sizes down to about 3/4 of what I would normally eat. 15 lbs. gone in 3 months and the effort was minimal, except for the running of course. I went from only being able to jog about 1 minute at a time to running my first 5K this past weekend. I'm hooked!
