The best diet is Weight Watchers. I have lost 35-40 lbs following that diet after both of my children. My mother has lost 45. Losing weight is a life changer, but you must have the motivation to do whatever diet you choose. Motivation is the key to success.

Good morning! I am on a weight loss program, too, but I prefer to call it a "diet revision" program; I am relearning how to eat. And I got this concept from my son. He wanted to lose weight, and regain his lean, muscular physique from his twenties (he's thirty seven). I noticed he was dropping weight like crazy, and asked him how he was doing it. He showed me the "Body For Life" book. I went out and got one, and have been doing it myself. I cannot express to you how much better I feel.
As I said, it's not a "diet," as much as it retrains how you look at food, and how you eat throughout the day. I now eat five or six small meals every day, all balanced with protein/healthy fat/carbs. I also walk about three times a week, and use free wieghts for about thirty minutes three times a week.
I highly recommend Body For Life. It's a nutritionally sound program, and will "help you help yourself" to acheive your goals in the short term, and maintain them in the long term.
P.S., using these tools - Body For Life and walking/weight training - I've lost sixteen pounds in two months, a very healthy weight loss for that period of time.
Good luck!

I am doing LA Weight Loss so far and have lost about 20 pounds since January 1st. I've heard of people losing weight with hoodia but I think it's one of those deals where you just put the weight right back on. Diet and exercise is the only thing that's ever worked for me in the long term!

You will absolutely love the Arbonne Figure 8 Weight Loss system. This is the thing that made me sign up as a wholesale buyer with the company. The meal replacement shakes are really goood. I prefer the Chai Latte, but the Chocolate and Vanilla are great too. The diet supplement really helps to curb your appetite and the weight loss chews (candy) help to satisfy that urge for something sweet. Try it you will love it.

Check out my website and let me know if you want to order. I will give you my 35% discount.

You will LOVE this system.

A couple of things that are helping me right now are LOTS of water and several apples a day, especially right before meals. (Fuji and Empire are sweet and fill that sweet tooth craving much better than snacking on a carrot stick!) Other than that, I'm making sure to eat a protein-packed breakfast (egg, yogurt, something with oats, etc) to set the tone for my day and then really backing off on portions and bread. I don't do diets - never been good at them, so I'm just trying to stick with what I know I love, but keep the portions pretty low while I'm trying to take off the baby pounds. I've lost three or four pounds in the past couple of weeks by doing this, and it's really encouraged me. And, like they always say - there's the worse part. Gotta exercise! If you have a couple of friends who are willing to briskly walk with you, it's awesome! You'll get to where you actually WANT to do it!

Curves, they have exercising and you can see their nutritionist. You can also do weight watchers in combination with Bally's or other gyms with aerobics. I know a lot of people who's had success that way, even with weight watchers alone.

Please try not to use the help of substances, I have found them to be worst on your body. After I'd loose the weight and get off the stuff. I seem to balloon up rapidly.

Good luck, and God bless,

Hi There,
I am an exercise physiologist and I do not recommend those types of weight loss supplements. The negative side effects are not worth losing the weight any faster than good old fashioned exercise and eating more sensibly. In the long run you are better off getting 30 minutes of continuous aerobic exercise (4-5) days per week and strength training (2-3) times per week.

If you are a member of a gym check with them on classes or services to get you going, if you are doing this at home email me back and I can send you an "at home" workout word document.

Hope that helps,
B.

I'm suffering from baby fat as well, the only thing is my baby is now 2 1/2 :) All of my fat has gone to my abdomen area. What I've been trying to do lately since I don't belong to the gym is keep my bedroom tv on the fit tv channel and work out with that, some here and there during the day as time permits. I can't do everything they do due to lack of equipment (like some of the weights, the big ball some work out with and the step)and sometimes I can't keep up because of stamina :) but I do what I can and I've been trying to walk around my neighborhood. I think I read some stuff about hoodia one time that I didn't really like.

Be blessed on your special day in October!

I've recently lost 20 pounds from midruff, belly, hips butt. I drink a high protein/high complex carb shake from Max Muscle called Primo Max (http://www.maxmuscle.com/). It comes in several flavors. I mix it with 4 oz water and 4 oz 1% Milk and drink this for breakfast and lunch. For dinner I eat veggies and protein. Take a good regime of vitamins (I use the GNC vita paks) and GNC Total Lean. Drink lots of water to help flush the system. I started doing this about 5 years ago. During the first go-around with the diet, I lost 35 pounds. I maintained it using 1 shake a day and being watchful of what I eat. If I saw the scale increasing, I jumped back on. The key is to stay away from anything sugar and bad carbs. When you look at a carb label, if the sugars are more than 10% of the carbs, put it back on the shelf. I am now back to my pre-pregnancy weight. (my daughters are 26 & 28 yo). I tried everything out there for years before I came up with this. I started out in a size 18. I am now a size 4 or 6 (depending on the manufacturer). It just amazes me how I have lost the weight from my midruff down. If you have any questions, feel free to email me. Good Luck! D.

Hoodia helps control hunger. It is not a fat burner. You mentioned that you are more focused on your abdominal area. Everyone holds fat in different areas. "Spot training" is not effective. Diet (meaning what you eat) is 80% of how you look - back to the old saying "you are what you eat". Cut out processed foods, refined sugar (fruit w/ natural sugar is ok), sauces and minimize breads/starchy veggies. Eat lean protein (1g per lb bodyweight) and lots of green veggies. Also, drink 1/2 - 1 gallon water per day. Add at least 30 minutes of excercise 3-4 times per week and you should start noticing a difference. Oxygen magazine (found at most grocery/retail stores) is a great resource on diet/exercise. The most success will come from a lifestyle change rather than temporary change for an event. Good luck!

Hello,

Here is a few tips that helped me lose weight that a friend passed along to me. She told me to drink 6 - 8 oz glasses of water a day. I told her I don't like water and here is her suggestion. Most people drink when they eat, so drink 2 glasses at breakfast, 2 glasses at lunch and 2 glasses at supper and your done. Cut down on your sugar in take (sweets). If you go to an outing and they serve a dessert just get you a small piece. This will curve the craving that you have for the sweet. IF they ask you why you are only getting a small piece or did you not like it? Just tell them no I liked it I'm just trying to cut back on what I eat. If you normally go back for a second helping stop at the first helping. When you start feeling full stop eating and push your plate away. When you go out to eat lets say you go to eat Mexican restaurant and you order a chicken buritto and it comes with rice and beans on the side tell them to hold the rice and beans you don't want them. If you go out to eat and they serve you bread while you are waiting on your meal ask them to take it away. Don't be embarrassed to ask them to cook your food with out oils or butter either. They may look at you funny but rememeber you are the one paying for it. As far as home goes look at your recipes and see how you can alter them and make them lower in fat and sugar. (for example - if a receipe calls for sour cream use Fat Free Sour cream, calls for sugar use Splenda, calls for pudding use a sugar free pudding, calls for cheese use a low fat cheese instead). If you drink regular sodas and lets say you drink 4 a day cut down to 3 a day then next week cut down to 2 a day and so on. If you can switch to diet that will be a plus also. If you can drink diet, try to drink caff. free diet drinks they don't have any sodium and you will not retian water from them. Try to exercise at least three times a week (I know with kids this is hard). Also if you eat a sandwich from home instead of a bag of chips to go along with it substitute a fruit or vegetable this will help you stay fuller longer and you won't be as hungary. I hope that I have not offended you in any way because that was not my intention. I'm just telling you some things that helped me lose my weight. Just remember don't just quit eating this will not help!! If you are one of those cooks that like to sample while they cook (Like me) them grab a bag of carrots or some other vegetable out of the fridge to snack on instead of something we didn't need. This was the hardest thing for me to quit but geting out carrots, cuccumbers, etc helped me cut back on the things I didn;t need ( like cookies, crackers). Good LUCK!!

Weight loss is not as hard as people make it out to be. From the time you wake until noon...eat and drink as much fruit as you want. At noon, load up on protein....have a reasonable dinner. Here's the trick...eat often between those meals, many nutricious snacks. Two wheat crackers,1/4 cup of skim milk also counts. Veggies, grapes, banana halves, fruit juice,a spoon of peanut butter counts as well between meals. The point is to speed up your metabolism by eating often. Oh, and for a while say "goodbye" to white stuff....whether it's potatoes or noodles or bread, keep it dark when selecting your breads etc. By 7p.m. you are so sick of eating so often that it won't be hard to stick to this new way of eating. Never letting your body go into starvation mode. The trick is eating often and drinking water. Sumo wrestlers gain weight by getting up in the morning and not eating until late in the day, then eating through the entire evening. Good luck! Diets don't work, but changing your eating habits work a lifetime.

Hoodia is an appetite suppressant, so, if your eating is emotional, I wouldnt bother. Other wise, you may find it does a pretty good job curbing your appetite.

Not all products are created equally. Typically, you will pay significantly more for pure hoodia. Google it, read as much as you can to help figure out which will be best.

Hello
Everyone's body responds differently to specific diets so be aware but my husband and I lost alot of weight on the Atkins diet. Of course he started to lose weight immediately but it took 2 weeks before I started to lose the weight. At first I thought it wasnt going to work but my body just took time to adjust to it. Then the weight came off quickly. I know it is not the healthies diet for long term but in the short run when you completely cut out carbs...all carbs it works fast.
Good Luck!

I think the weight loss pills are a waste of money. Save that money for new tennis shoes, a step counter, or free weights. I had 30 lbs to lose after having my child and believe me, it was not easy, but I did it and you can too. What worked for me was portion control. I was so surprised when I actually read the labels and found out what I thought was one portion was actually 2-3. I also increased my fiber intake. I began eating fruits or vegetables with every meal, eating whole grain breads and cereals. Drink water and lots of it, cut out the sodas (I even cut out the diet sodas because for some reason, they made me want to eat more). Keep yourself accountable through a food diary. Write down everything you eat. At first it seems very tedious but after a while it becomes second nature. Most important is exercise and it is hard to fit the gym in when you now have a child. You need to make the time. There are some gyms around this area that offer child care while you work out. You can also just put the kid in the jogging stroller and walk around the neighborhood or buy some exercise videos. Just get moving.
The pills are just a quick fix, and what I needed was behavior modification through learning to live a healthy lifestyle. There are a lot of websites out there with tons of healthy alternative recipes and food plans that helped me get started.
Hope this helps

Jen

I had to lose 60 pounds and I am still working on a few pounds to get back to 145. Here is my weight loss story. Hopefully parts can be helpful to you. Some may not.

I was at the gym for the first five months. I even hired a trainer at the Y (which is much cheaper than most trainers) to help PUSH me. Best money I ever spent on myself. It kicked everything inot gear. I did 30 minutes of cardio before my one hour of weight training. I trained 2 times a week and did my own workout for 45 minutes 2 more times a week.

After 5 months, I scaled it back to the YMCA group classes a couple times a week combined with walking a few times a week for an hour with the stroller.

I hit a plateau at 158 pounds. I tried Nutrasystem (yuk) and lost 8 pounds in 2 months with moderate exercise.

I was going to try Alli because it does not absorb into your bloodstream. It works in your digestive tract. However, you must keep your fat intake at meals at 15 grams or less to avoid the gassy and runny side-effects. My neighbor is a pharmaceutical rep and put her hubby on it. He loved it as long as the fat intake was low. So that is an option, if you want a pill.

If you are going to spend the money on a pill, I would invest it in a trainer. It may sound pricey, but believe me...it is the best money I spent to make me feel good and get the results I wanted (more muscle, less flab). They push you harder than you typically push yourself.

That is my story! I lost 55 pounds in 12 months and tried several routes. Now the last 5.....that is hard for me!

Hope this helps.

Hi,

There is a new product that just came out called Energy that I've heard is amazing at appetite control and weight loss. A friend of a friend of mine was one of the testers and she said that she had loads of energy (without being jitter) and she lost 6 pounds her first week. She also said that her appetite was controlled to the point where she wasn't even thinking about food. It's also completely natural and comes from a very reputable company that makes some other great, natural products.
You can order it at http://www.shopgbg.com/?ID=329494

Also, a great FREE site to use for weight loss is http://sparkpeople.com/. They have support groups, calorie counters, meal planners, low fat recipes, a forum and a way to keep track of how many calories/fat you are taking in each day. It's kind of what you would do with weight watchers, but instead of counting points, you actually count calories/fat. I believe that weight watchers just converts the calories/fat into points, so it's basically the same thing. Also another great site to use it http://www.my-calorie-counter.com/calorie_counter.asp. You can use this the same way as Spark People or you can use it to see how many calories/fat are in different foods..even fast food places. They have a huge database of foods listed. I even found the sandwich I ate the other day from Panera Bread on there. I wasn't happy to see that it had 35 grams of fat and 800 calories..but at least now I know for next time!! lol

Hope you find success with your weight loss!

Weight watchers works.... you can eat regualr food from the grocery... they make you more aware of your really eating with a points system...going to the meetings and weighing in makes you more accountable and makes you want to stay on track....... plus you can get the weight off and keep it off...after you stop the diet pillsthe weight will come right back on and probably bring more weight along.... good luck with what ever you try... I do a lot of sit ups and went to the YMCA and started the scult and sweat class and that has made a difference. I have tried a number of different things but nothing has worked until recently. I talked to a couple of different people that are on the same diet and it worked for them. I went to a local clinic where I live and they have a diet program. Medical benefits do not cover this so I had to pay out of pocket (I think it's worth it). It was $65 for the first visit they check your blood pressure and weight you. They give a prescription for ADIPEX, that is the generic name. I go every month and pay $40 for that visit. They monitor your blood pressure and weight in. Then I get the prescription filled which is about $ 18. I have lost 20lbs in 4 months. This is used for short term but alot of people I know used this and they all lost the weight they wanted to loose. Good luck to you!!!

In addition to all the great advice already given, find a friend to exercise with or meet at the gym. Having someone else involved will help you keep your promises to yourself to work out. Plus, if you're walking around the neighborhood you can have fun conversation as well. Another thing that has helped me is to reward yourself for losses along the way--a new pair of sandals--new cute workout clothes etc.

I have found the greatest successes by truly paying attention to portion control--I weigh foods when I don't know what the right portion size looks like. I also pay attention to the number of servings from each food group--found I was eating way too many carbs and fruit, and not enough protein.

The only diet that works is Weight Watchers. Hoodia absolutely does not work. It takes 21 days to break a habit and at Weight Watchers you will learn what habit YOU have that makes you gain. The meetings are uplifting with everyone else going through the same thing and all their funny stories and successes along the way. WW is not a diet -- you never need to feel hungry and the bellyfat will start falling off. Did you know you should have more dairy products to fight belly fat? -- WW will tell you how to get the right amount.

My husband is a former certified personal trainer. He has seen all kinds of weight pills and supplements. A huge percentage are not regulated by the FDA, so there is no telling what you are actually putting in your body. There may not even be any of the actual "active" ingredient that the product is said to contain. They will say anything to get your money...
If you want to lose fat, he always suggests low impact cardio- such as walking or even swimming combined with a proper diet. Even the small print on these pills and diet plans say the same thing. Its all about caloric intake and a lifestyle change. Its not easy at first, but it does get easier. I gained 50 lbs with my pregnancy, but lost all of it by the time my son was 1 year old by counting calories and getting moderate exercise.

FIrst things first, there are no shortcuts. You need to make some lifestyle changes and be willing to adopt them, well, for life. Try eating more smaller meals a day always including a protein with each little meal. Go for six instead of 3 big meals. Also, brush your teeth after each meal - a clean mouth will make you less likely to snack in between meals. Mind your portion sizes. Small meals, mean just that - you'll be eating more often so you need to eat way less at each of these meals. Lastly - get moving - you need to exercise - it doesn't mean you have to go to a gym, but you have to get up and move. Whether it is crazy dancing with the kids or taking a long walk - make sure you get in plenty of movement each day. Get down on the floor at night on commercial breaks if you're a TV watcher and do a few sit ups or push ups. It's a great time for floor work. Remember to drink plenty of water/fluids with all this activity. Good luck - with the proper motivation and some will power, you'll be looking great by October!

Walking is ur best exercise. When u walk pull ur stomach up like ur trying to be skinny. Hold it and breathe deep it will send oxygen to the muscles. Relax ur stomach as you need to but try to pull back up again if you can.

I recently read an article about Lucine. It's found in protein...especialy soy and whey. It helps target and shrink fat (sepecially in the belly) and it's a great for helping to lower cholesterol.

You can get a protein shake as a meal suppliment...Slimfast Optima was one mentioned in the article. I use one I found at Sam's Club called Naturade Total Soy. It actually works though. Within the first few weeks my clothes were fitting better and people were asking if I lost weight. I don't weigh myself so I can't tell you how much I lost but I did go down two pant sizes in a month.

I would drink a shake for breakfast (I normally skip breakfast) sometimes one for lunch (or I would eat a healthy meal) then I would eat a healthy protein packed dinner, such as a chicken salad or chicken and rice. You can snack in between meals as long as you keep it reasonable.

This is the same thing that all those milk commercials are trying to tell us. Drink more milk...shrink your waste. That's because milk is packed with Lucine.

You can make up your own diet plan if you prefer. Look it up and you should be able to find plenty of info on it.

The only problem I found is that when I went off the shake, I gained weight. That's because I wasn't watching what I ate. Starting tomorrow I will be back on the shake and will eat better when I get off it.

I also don't exercise, if I did I may have lost more.

Good Luck and remember to try and stay healthy in your quest for a thinner figure!

I tried Hoodia and I didn't like it. It made me nervous. If your going to try diet pills you might as well do the real thing and get some adipex or phentermine. However, if your midsection is the problem, my personal trainer told me that sugars and complex carbs will go straight to a woman's midsection. You will need to buy everything in the really low sugar form. The sugarless jelly is actually good. Eat grilled chicken and salmon if you like it. Front load your carbs. In other words, eat them in the morning or before noon. Also, eating 5 small meals per day instead of three big ones. Snack on things like almonds. Also, keep a food journal. I did this for several weeks and it really holds you accountable. Write down everything you put in your mouth every day. Good luck

I too struggle am with weight. For me, the most effective weightloss ever is when I cut, sugar, fat and anything that has the consistency of glue or has the color of glue. Add bright colors to your meal preparation. Of course increasing exercise and decreasing intake of food is the key.
Best of luck and what a wonderful incentive, repeating your vows. You can do it girl!
Blessings

I completely agree with Dawn!! I have been a certified fitness instructor for almost 12 years. There is no substitute for eating a healthy, well balanced diet and exercise. Set reasonable goals and gradually increase your exercise over time. For weight loss, more cardio is recommended, but resistance training is very important, too. I have to stress that if you don't watch your diet, all of the exercise in the world won't help with weight loss. Unfortunately, there is no "magic pill" or "fad diet" that will do the trick, but with a little bit of knowledge and a strong commitment, you can do anything you set your mind to!

I know you will look and feel GREAT for your special day, and I hope that you will enjoy good health and fitness always!!

Hey u guys! I am almost afraid to comment - but here it goes!! I have tried everything known to man diet wise and nothing has worked until recently. I had a daughter 2 years ago and gained 50lbs!!! I have never weighed that much in my life. My husband and I own our own business and I work about 50 hours a week plus our three girls, 16, 11, and 2. we are a very busy family!!! Work, soccer, band, school - you name it. I will be the first to admit - I DO NOT HAVE TIME TO GO TO THE GYM. Sorry - i just don't. About 5 months ago a friend referred me to a website www.soloslim.com. Yes, it is a pill - I have been on it for 5 months and it works GREAT!!! I have lost 23lbs by taking it. It curbs your appetite and you don't have any cravings....not even for chocolate!!!! You only have to take the pill once (in the morning) and it is all natural - it doesn't make u nervous or jumpy!! two other ladies in my office take it now and they too have lost around 15 pounds in 3 months. We make sure we eat 5 small meals a day - even if we aren't hungry and drink water when we can. Since I don't have time to work out - wherever I go - even to my own office - i make sure I park far out so I will have to walk further. I no longer look for a close parking spot when I go to walmart!!! 5 months later i am 23 pounds lighter and really feel like i have accomplished something. I don't take it every day now like i did in the beginning. Now i take every other day and sometimes every 3rd day and I am still doing great. I know a lot of people on here say taking supplements are bad for you. Everything now days is bad for you. If you are going to go with a pill this is the one. Email me if you want to know what other things the girls and I do in the office to lose weight. Good luck!!!

If you are really serious about losing weight you need to do two things: cut your sugars/salts and exercise. Please stay away from the pills. They can hurt you. I've lost weight using Michael Thurmond's 6 week body makeover. Here is a quick summary of the program:
+a quick online questionnaire will help you find your body type and what protein will work best for you (chicken, beef...)
+5-6 small meals a day--PORTIONS ARE SO VERY IMPORTANT
+super low sugar and sodium is key
+water, water, water
+you'll drop about 8lbs the first week just in water weight
+it's safe and makes sense
+no pills, just will power
+it'll save you so much money on food!
I basically eat oatmeal, 1/2 apple, two egg whites for breakfast; am snack is chicken and a potato; lunch is chicken, rice and 2 cups of any veggies; pm snack is apple and Simply Jif peanut butter; dinner is salmon, rice, salad; optional snack is berries. There are so many different ways you can mix and match your foods. You don't have to eat the same thing everyday. You're eating every few hours in order to kick your metabolism into high gear. When you train your body to expect food, it won't hold on to the fat (like when people starve themselves). The body will flush itself out and you'll lose weight! It has worked for all the ladies in my office and it will work for you too! Let me know how well it works for you!

I was also trying to lose that dreaded baby fat. I started Weight Watchers and found great success! Now, lots of people say that it didn't work for them, but it works if you work it. It really teaches you about portion control and makes you really take a look at what you put in your mouth everyday. I also exercise 5 mornings a week. That made the weight come off even faster. I've lost 25 pounds in 12 weeks!! If you're looking to lose weight, this is the healthiest way I've found.
