My husband had success with a healthy diet that involves 2 meal replacements per day. I sold him the diet! I use the products myself even though I do not need to lose weight. If interested in something like this I can send you a link to peruse.

I have just lost 50 pounds and have 5 more to go to be at my Weight Watcher's goal but 15 to be at my own goal. The new Weight Watcher's program is amazing. I have to go to the meetings. I have to be accountable. After about 3 weeks of losing I started walking... and then running! After 8 months I re-joined the gym.
I started out with just following the WWs Plan~ and then worked my way up to walking, then running and now the gym and all of the above. Before I decided to change things...
I had given up and was going to settle but life is too short and when people finally started really noticing... there is no better motivator except of course your health! But in regard to vanity... well, I like the attention! smile.
Just a note* Just start out by journaling everything you eat this week... even before you start any program just so you can see what you are going to cut out. Don't modify anything... Just eat what you want and what you would have without this thought in your head of being accountable... then start cutting out calories with whatever program you choose.... and never stop journaling!!! Being accountable is the key!
What I like abour Weight Watchers is it teaches you how to eat healthier but it is not cutting out any particular thing....it is really being aware of more like portions and what is in what you are eating but it is more of a lifestyle change than a "diet" and that is why it works for me! You don't feel deprived and yet it makes me never forget.... NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS THIN FEELS!

I have had success with counting calories. You can google how many calories you need per day based on your weight and activity level. Livestrong has a good calorie tracker, which is also available as an application for a smart phone. I also like Daily Burn for my Iphone. These applications allow you to type in the food you ate and they will tell you how many calories it was, how many calories you have consumed for the day, and how many you have left. They also have workout trackers and weight trackers. You will find that you will start reading labels and being much more mindful of what you eat. The goal is to eat less calories than you burn. I lose 1-2 lbs a week when I do this.

Weight Watchers is a similar concept (tracking what you eat, burning more than you take in) but they use a points system rather than just calories. It worked well for me too. I know many people who have liked Weight Watchers online (you do not go in for meetings, just log your points online). My personal opinion is I prefer plain old calorie counting because you do not have to figure out how many "points" each food item is. Less math involved. (The points are based on how much fiber, fat and calories are in the food item).

Finally, sometimes I get sick of all the food logs and math. I have a hard time managing my weight- I have to be working out 4+ days a week plus watching my calorie intake carefully or the weight just piles on. Anyway, I have also had success in simply cutting out refined sugar and flour + white rice and potatoes.

I have heard that weight loss is 90% what you eat and 10% exercise. However, it will be a lot easier to stay "on course" if you are exercising, in my opinion. It will also boost your metabolism, give you more energy and of course help tone your body. When I have more energy, I have more willpower with my food cravings.

Good luck!

I've been losing a lot of weight by adopting a Paleo diet--you only eat what our paleolithic/hunter gatherer ancestors ate. Nothing processed! It's really easy because the food is quite satiating. Meat, Seafood, Nuts, Fruits and Veggies. I'm loving it so far and so is my family. my favorite website for recipes/advice is www.everydaypaleo.com

Good luck!

The body is like a bank account. If you put more money in a bank account than you take out, the bank account will get bigger.

If you eat more calories than use, your body will get bigger.

I lost 25 pounds on the 6 Week Body Makeover in three weeks. I lost 16 lbs the first week and tried another scale because I thought mine must have been broken.

Good luck to you and yours.

Running. I used to hate jogging and never had any interest. I've always worked out regularly but hit a plateau and couldn't loose the pooch. I started fast walking and jogging for 15-30 minutes 2-3x/week; it's the only thing that's worked. I do eat fairly healthy most of the time.

the old fashion way, eating heatlhy and 3-5 days a week exersing. you can't have one without the other and if you eat healthy but exersise less than 3 days a week you are only maintaing not loosing any weight. When you go to the gym and work out for two hours, i bet you will be making very good food choices. Its not about loosing weight but being healthy and preping for the older age to enjoy your life after retirement. PM mee if you have any additional questions, i would love to help.
